Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

Pretty sure that picture could stop wars and that's your response.
I was hoping to read some opinions on the soul crushing SB loss, because I haven’t heard anything about it, yet.

Now, you’ve gone and turned the place into a /reddit subforum for cute animal pics.

Yeah, but isn’t Mayo just another one of those jerks who wants to stir up trouble and doesn’t appreciate all that Belichick has done? He’s a “mediot” right? Isn’t that the word? How dare he question our leader’s judgment.

The homers have definitely lost their minds on this one. This is almost as much of a train wreck to watch as the 2009 season was (although it was funny to watch them contort themselves to try and make the case that there was nothing wrong with the team).

How can anyone be mad at this man!
That dog was caught with weed and is an achololic, BB is just bringing him out to the yard to chain him up in his literal dog house.

506 more ... you can do it.

I’ll do my part.

Belichick made a mistake by benching Butler. What say you guys?
Back in Boston, Malcolm was at the hospital getting a sex change operation which was why he was late arriving to Minny. Once BB saw he was missing his junk he needed to bench him as the NFL does not allow non-males to play in NFL games.

ESPN just said BB had dinner with Michael Vick.

Rappaport now confirming, also reports they ate the dog. Schefty working on the dog's medical records

pete rose is rolling over in his grave.

Dude bet on baseball, and banned for life. no evidence that he every made coaching decisions to lose a game.

BB on the other hand benched his #2 CB in the superbowl.

Interesting thoughts from Mayo from the Curran article posted by aluminum seats. It looks like the benching of Butler is still looming over this team. Guys prepped and played hard and still have no answers why one of their best defensive players was sitting on the bench while the D got torched.

-- First, if Danny Amendola feels somewhat betrayed by the still-unexplained benching of Malcolm Butler, what of Brady? And the rest of the team that is now returning?

“There are only two people that know what happened: Bill and Malcolm,” said Mayo. “I’ve had conversations with multiple guys on the team and no one knows."

--Is this the biggest hurdle Belichick’s faced?

“I think so. Being able to rally the troops around this one common goal of getting to the Super Bowl while (players are thinking), ‘If we get there, how do we know you’re not going to pull this again?' that’s always going to be back of the players' minds as well. For the most part, players don’t play for the coaches. You play for the guy -- corny as it sounds -- you play for the guys next to you. And those guys will find a common ground to rally around. This can be terrible for the franchise for the foreseeable future, or they can just plow through it.”

thats what im afraid of. he doesnt have to tell the public jack s---. he HAS to clear the air, whatever it is, with the team

Did Pete Rose go Goth? What's he doing in a grave?

People here shi.t on Bruschi, Rodney, and Willie when they dare question Bill on their respective media platforms so why not Mayo as well?

How can you just let Butler off the hook?

Probably because I've seen/heard/read about guys not being locked in and having sloppy weeks of practice (several members of the 2007 squad off the top of my head) and then still playing on Sunday. I've seen/heard/read about guys coming off of injury or just acquired (Martellus Bennett) mid-week that played on Sunday.

Now, to follow up that reasoning, I'm having a hard time envisioning what Butler could have done OUTSIDE not being locked in to warrant benching him for more than a quarter, going into a defense that you don't have the horses to run (particularly against an offense like Philly), sticking with it, and essentially flushing another Super Bowl title down the toilet. Even a modestly better defensive effort - which isn't beyond the realm of possibility once you get McCourty and Chung back to doing what they do, Butler on the field, and Bademosi and Richards OFF of it - would have won that game with the way the offense played.

Mayo is just the most recent to weigh in on this. He joins others that say they never got an explanation about it. I would hope Bill gives the guys one before the season. There is some air to clear there.
