about his time on the Patriots.

For one, I couldn't believe it, but he knocked Wes Welker for being the one Patriot who ran the wrong routes more than anyone he has ever played with.

Two, he said that the playoff loss to the Ravens was mostly due to the offensive minds installing a brand new offense for the game, one that totally departed from the offense that the Patriots had in the past. It was a one off. To hear Brady tell it, that had never happened before. The QB and the receivers were on totally different pages, and that was the reason for the loss. There was a feeling of total helplessness on the sidelines.

Wes caught 110-120 balls every healthy season he played here. What would have happened if he ran the RIGHT routes every time?

Donald Jones? Wasn’t he only here for a bit in 2013...? Am I thinking of the wrong guy?

Jones was with the Pats from March 15th to July 19th in 2013. He retired from the NFL about 3 weeks later due to kidney disease. Prior to that, he was a 2010 UDFA signed by the Bills who had modest production for them at WR through 2012. He didn't receive an RFA tender from them and signed a 3-year contract with the Pats on March 15th.

Slight aside but ... so many ex-Patriots from the past 15 or so years, and not one has mentioned seeing hidden video cameras or deflated footballs. Weird.

That's because they know that if they did mention anything, their moldering corpse would later be found awkwardly impaled on a lacrosse stick.

I remember quite a few posters questioning the game plan at the time that don’t usually second guess the coordinators.

Finally he admit Vince knock the **** out off him, still recovering from it it seems

They lost that game because:
  • Aqib Talib got injured and nobody could defend Anquan Boldin. Ravens couldn't move the ball until Talib got injured and they back shouldered the Pats to death in the 2nd half.
  • Wes Welker's momentum killing drop at the beginning of the 3rd quarter.
  • Pats not scoring in the redzone. As usual, the Pats were able to walk up and down the field on the "big bad Ravens" defense but the Ravens would tighten up in the redzone and make the Pats kick field goals.
  • Ridley getting knocked out.
  • Gronk not available for the game.
That game is still frustrating to talk about as the Ravens had no business winning that game.

No it’s because there is nothing to say. Because nothing happened.

I'm confused.

If here was here in the OTAs and barely in TC and a year after WW left for DEN, how can he comment on WW's routes?

If I recall correctly, that 2012 Patriots team featured the no huddle offense and were known for the quick snap; I think they set a record for most offensive plays at the time. I remember not liking the offense, primarily because (a) Ridley was their feature back and was incredibly inconsistent, including a series of fumbles, and (b) Lloyd was their featured receiver, and they tried to force it to him constantly despite him being unable to run routes correctly, get separation, or get any YAC. Then Welker was reportedly complaining and posturing about his contract and, as mentioned earlier, had another critical playoff drop. We didn't realize it at the time, but we also featured a serial killer as the other guy who got a lot of targets. Not surprisingly, in 2013 their offense went through a major rebuild, dumping Lloyd, Welker, and losing Hernandez in the offseason, while picking up Amendola and expanding Edelman's role.

I sensed there was a lot of dysfunction on that team, particularly on offense.

Patriots receivers adjust their routes based on how the defense plays them. Welker was most likely running the right routes based on how the defense played him. It's no wonder that Jones never made it past training camp. Just another receiver who wasn't bright enough to pick-up the difficult Patriot's offense.

Lets not forget how Brady/BB/Josh ****ed up the clock before halftime by running around with the ball letting the time be drained.

At least it gave us the great "mini controversy" of him "almost taking out Ed Reed" with his legs.

IDK about that. The Pats had signed him to a 3-year deal.

He has some form of kidney disease that had flared up to the degree that he retired from football a couple weeks after he was released (before Camp). So, his release may have been purely health-related rather than performance-related.

The Ravens may have been more adept at integrating a killer into their lineup than were the Pats.
