Well and his guys were absolutely wide open for the most part. One of those situations could have been helped. Probably would have led to the one more stop they needed as well.

A drunk and high butler would have been worse than bademosi. Butler won us a super bowk and cost us another.

If the if Butler played the we would have won people would offer their reasoning as opinion then fine ... that's sports. But to prove their opinion is valid some of them choose to use the word logic/logical which is erroneous. That brings in slippery slope and hasty generalization just to name a few. One cannot assume Butler would have made the same good plays that his subs made. Also ... cannot assume he would have made good plays vs the bad plays his subs did ... assumptions have no place in a logical argument ... facts are needed ... all of them.

Sports is a best guess ... best opinion of a choice and choices based on statistics, game scheme, health of player, matchups ... just to name a few. Coaches play percentages and hunches ... it's not foolproof and it's why we all have opinions based on what we see.

I myself think we may have performed better if Butler had played ... my opinion is all it is.

But I cannot say with certainty we would have won ... because if he played other results which are unknown would have to be factored in ... unknowns are not part of logic. They are presenting fallacies in informal arguments ... you cannot say something is true because it has not been proven false or false because it has not yet been proven true - the investigation is insufficient and will remain so.
The team needed one stop and essentially had three guys playing out of position. Butler on the field instead of Richards takes them out of the Big Nickel. I think most here would agree that, as the “last” DB on the field, Butler > Richards. McCourty moves back deep and out of the box and Chung also moves back to the LoS covering Ertz. In man, Rowe/Butler is now covering Agholor. Both are upgrades over what Chung was able to do against him. Chung is now doing what he does best - shutting down the opposing TE as an option while the man he replaced is now on the bench.

So yeah, I think putting guys back in their natural spot and upgrading upon what Richards was (wasn’t) able to give the defense results in that one additional stop that the team needed. Maybe even more than that.

What? Butler wouldn’t have been playing this game drunk and high.

I guess his demeanor on the sidelines suggested he wasn’t wasted. But would you have played him if SBB’s theory is correct?

He has a source close to the team that said BB’s son walked in on Butler drunk and smoking weed in the hotel prior to the Super Bowl.

Lol Butler and Bill squashed those rumors and if there was any truth to that, the entire media hord would know about it.

It would explain why Butler and the rest of the defense didn’t know until kickoff. Of course Butler would say he didn’t do anything - he was a pending free agent. And to that end Bill didn’t want to hurt MB’s chances in free agency either.

This times 100

Once again that assumes they would call the same plays ... too many unknowns.
A healthy focused Butler may have put us over the top ... but we will never know.
Butler sucked in the playoffs ... hurt us even ... another item left off the table by the pro Butler people.

Clairvoyant? Just the opposite. I'm saying plainly I can envision no set of facts that justifies what occurred, and apparently neither you or anyone else can either.

I have no idea what "refuse to assume Malcolm just wasnt plain ready" and the rest of that is supposed to mean.
So lets explore it then.

Malcolm says he wasn't locked in to the game. What do you think that means? Is it something substantial or an off the cuff remark?

If you told your boss (or he knew) you weren't ready to work on the biggest day of the company's history what would happen?

Now this is brilliant. Blame the loss on the guy that was not allowed to play!

He did it to himself and screwed the team in the process if this rumor is true.

It was the week before when still in Mass. He was inebriated when confronted about missing practice due to illness.

Wait, which are you going with now? Is this flu, or the AFCCG, or limited in practice?

????

Of course it's logical to assume that a better player would make more plays than a lesser player. That's what makes better players better players.

Ok let’s take a look at your point. So you believe Bill wanted to punish MB and of course send a message to the team by sacrificing what could be Bills last chance to win a SB. But he wants to protect MBs money potential in FA?
“Hey Malcolm, we’re going to screw ourselves out of a super bowl but I’m going to make sure you get paid....then, I’m not going to say a thing about this to the rest of the team in hopes that I can create some animosity in the locker room and dissension, you know, the thing I’m trying to prevent by benching you...”

Sounds a bit illogical

If you think butlers actions had nothing to do with why he was benched and it was just a whim you sound foolish.

I’m pretty sure all parties involved with the team and around the team have dispelled this rumor that you continue to perpetuate, but let’s humor this for a second, do you believe he’s the first/last player to get drunk or high the week before a game? I’ll do you one more,I’d bet Bills LB corps in NY partied it up the night before the SB during his Giants tenure. This had nothing to do with behavior or misconduct
