I feel weirdly proud of the people here that we don't have a separate Dez Bryant thread yet. I suppose it will happen eventually but it almost feels like people are learning not to jump immediately onto big names that get released.

im pretty sure the pats have a strict "no choking your own mamma" policy so dez isn't coming here.

Hate to break it to you... but there is one.

I must have put it preemptively on ignore or it was created by one of the bozos that is on my ignore list then. Was too beautiful to be true anyway..

Per Bill Barnwell:

“The problem with the Dez market is that there’s no screaming obvious fit for a guy with his skills at this point. Ravens would have made sense pre-Crabtree. Think he might end up as a one-year deal somewhere.”

Am sure Ozzie checked if they could still retroactively fail Crabtree’s physical.

Makes sense for him. Barwin wants to play only 3-4 OLB; no 4-3 DE for him.

I'm not sure about the fit for him in Arizona, though.

Their new DC is Al Holcomb. All of his previous NFL experience (as a defensive assistant and position coach) has been in the 4-3 ... 2009-2012 under Sheridan and then Fewell with the Giants, then 2013-2017 under McDermott and then Wilks with the Panthers. So, it seems at least somewhat likely that the Cards will be switching to a 4-3 for 2018.

Interestingly, about 60% now runs some form or other of a 4-3 base, with the Browns having switched last season, and Indy and (potentially) the Cards for 2018. The supply of 3-4 type free agents has been increasing recently and seems likely to increase a bit more in 2019. Meanwhile, I've been seeing a lot of 2018 draft scouting reports for larger "DEs" (6'3"+/285+) noting that the prospect is "best-suited as a 2-gapping DE, but will probably have to play DT/interior-rusher in the NFL."

Just sayin'.

A possible switch by Arizona to more 4-3 would then seem a better fit for Chandler Jones, whom I have never bought as a 3-4 OLB.

James Harrison retires:

James Harrison retires:

This tells me we need to seriously think about
Tom retiring in the next 2 seasons and we need to have a highly functional QB ready to go.
That being said thank you James for balling out for us and leaving it all on tbe field.
I never knew much about you as a Steeler but came to respect you as a Patriot.
Enjoy your life and family.
