As much as I would love to just use these first 4 picks to reload, we may not have a better chance for years to draft a top QB. With Brady’s age, they have to pick one early. I’m hoping Jackson falls rather than blowing our draft load moving up for Mayfield.
I think Jackson is geno smith 2.0

I think he means he’s not linked to the patriots. And he’s not the likely number 1 pick - that’s sam darnold.
Allen and Darnold should be irrelevant to the Patriots, we aren't getting up that high. We also won't be in play for Rosen or Mayfield unless they drop more than expected - which is unlikely but at least possible whereas I don't think it's even possible for the first two.

I think Allen is going over Darnold. Maybe I'm wrong but as good a prospect as Darnold is, he didn't clear off his warts this past season and doesn't have the upside that Allen does.

I’m going to laugh my ass off if the Browns take Allen at #1 overall over Darnold.

It's quite funny. Every sportscaster & media folks predict Patriots are "interested" in one or another of these QBs:

- Mayfield
- Darnold
- Rosen
- Jackson
- Rudolph
- Lauletta
- White
- Woodside

Would be funny if Patriots pick a total unknown...

What don't you like about Allen?
His accuracy. And it’s not like he was playing Alabama, Clemson, and Miami on a week to week basis. Darnold’s issues, on the other hand, seemed to be too much confidence in his game. He would try to thread the needle too much.

The biggest issue, and this is an issue that offsets his solid athleticism and cannon arm, with Allen is how he progresses post-snap. When he throws to his first read, he has great ball placement. He doesn't have inherent accuracy issues, he has poor accuracy and decision-making as he progresses beyond his first read. It's processing speed and confidence, not physical limitations.

It's the kind of thing a good coach might be able to iron out given time, but you're taking a risk. If you're confieent you can improve that aspect of his game, you're looking at a rich man's Carson Wentz, a guy like Aaron Rodgers. If you can't, he won't even be a career backup. It's not a horrible risk to take since the Browns seem committed to giving whoever they draft a redshirt year behind Taylor anyways.

Well, he won't be playing with a good coach with the Browns so that should pretty much ruin him.

I hope he goes to Denver and ruins them.

Fwiw Dolphins visit with Mayfield and Allen if we want a shot we need to get in the top 10.
If its me and im trading up if I dont 100 percent trust the guy Im trading up for only one player Bradley Chubb.
I would stand Pat and Take Landry then Jackson or Rudolph whoever we like better.
Or take Mike White or Lauletta in the middle rounds and go Defense Defense with the first 2 picks.

Or front 7 and OT.

I don't see us waiting past Pick 50 for our first quarterback. It is dangerous to have someone in mind as our future franchise Qb and wait, risking losing the player.

Part of me has Rudolph,Lauletta and White all ranked close.
Kanoff the other Austin and Marshall QB.
All could be in the mix and the insane pipe dream trade up for a top 4 QB.
Ill have my popcorn ready.

I want them to draft someone, preferably in the first two rounds. Assuming Baker Mayfield and Darnold are gone these are the only guys I want...

Wozzy's list in order of Patriot preference:

ROUNDS 1-3
Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma St.
Mike White, Western Ky.
Luis Perez,Tex.A&M-Commer
Nic Shimonek, Texas Tech
Chad Kanoff, Princeton

3rd ROUND ON
Grant Russell, Oh Dominican
Logan Woodside, Toledo
Luke Falk, Washington St.
Kenny Hill, TCU
Alex McGough, FIU

UDFA
Chris Streveler, S Dakota
Yianni Gavalas, LIU Post
Chase Burton, Franklin
Hayden Hildebrand, Cent Ark
Tommy Stuart, Duquesne

If I had to choose one name it would be a toss up between Rudolph or White... I'll go with White.

Mike white looked awful against ‘Bama. Granted western kentucky is not a good team but still....

Honestly this doesnt dissuade me.
He stood in the pocket he rolled out he got drilled pressure up the middle if anything it tells me I want nobody on that Oline even as undrafted free agents.

Football is still a team sport, his entire team was better the year prior. The kid was put through a blender of different coaches, different systems and still managed to look good on average to bad teams. And he still throws the tightest spiral and most catchable ball in college IMO.

Terrible athlete but good arm, feet, mechanics and awareness in the pocket, reminds me of 12... his favorite player btw.
