The Developmental Need At Corner

Yes, Ryan Lewis may be our developmental #5 CB, with a couple of late picks, UDFAs, Cy Jones also competing for the spot. If the team is really high on Lewis, this really eliminates the need to use a top 100 pick on a corner.

As an aside, we have a similar situation at safety. I don't know how highly the team rates David Jones and Damarius Travis. Belichick may be fine with letting Richards compete with them, 2018 UDFA's, and late draft picks for the 4th safety spot.

Yes, it certainly possible that we have the pick of the front 7 players at 9 or 10, or even a player that we really want at 15. After all, a guard and 2 safeties seem likely to be drafted in the top 10.

Actually I'm alluding to the potential roster trade offs that are inherent in moving up.

What other potential hole-filling prospects do the Pats miss out on by sacrificing early picks to move up for one player? What if they're then stuck with Richards or Roberts for another year (or more), or miss out on their best opportunity to take the best shot they'll have for a couple of drafts at acquiring a long term starting LT?

I'm not saying that things would absolutely work out that way or that moving up is inherently a bad idea, just that the opportunity cost thing works both ways.

Davis of auburn and Oliver of Colorado are two impressive corners that we can get in the early second round, that would be instant starters for us.

Rowe, Rowe, Rowe your sorry boat over to slot receiver coverage, so we can all live merrily, merrily, merrily ever after.

Averitt or brown of Alabama would be two udfa’s that I think could make our team.
Holton Hill Texas.
Should be late round. First round talent but knucklehead. Richard Sherman size at 6'2" has more speed. Can return kicks. Good ball skills.
I am sold on him because he is a first round talent. Can BB reign him in? Will Flores be able to put a foot on his neck?

Best tackling CB I have seen in the Draft (see Bademosi)

BTW, thank you for the inadvertent reminder for me to re-check the contract end dates I have in my roster spreadsheet by mentioning that Jason is UFA after 2018. Sure enough, I did have a 2019 contract expiration date for him instead of 2018.
