Rowe gave up 80 yards
Richards gave up 75

Either one could have sat for a series to see if Butler had better results. The fact of the matter is we will NEVER know. BB didn't go with the tried and true advice of "stick with what got you here"

Not happy with how someone did in practice, sure bench them. Then watching your defense go down in flames on the biggest stage and not at least trying your former #1 CB? Hubris.
If a player isn’t ready to play a coach shouldn’t put him in. The only argument for putting him in is “why not”. Why not is because on that day he was the worst option.
Should we be arguing he should have pulled mason before the strip sack and put Karras in?

Based on what Malcolm did and it was not without merit he was never an option. There were 2 mistakes; 1 what Butler did and I assure it was bad. 2 Dressing him when he was never an option.

The only explanation I have is that BB didn't want to embarrass/enflame the situation any further.
What did he do?

You can’t make a corner inactive when you only have 4.

I got criticized for saying it earlier in the thread because I can't say how I know but when Stephen went to check on him for missing practice sick he was drunk and high and got into it with Stephen (not physically).

How reliable is your source?

I respect your source because you have been accurate with some of the passed on info in years past. I hope this doesn’t get you in trouble.

Not sure why anyone would mark this funny.

You don't know him from a hole in the wall. But he says something you like hearing so you see no reason for him to lie. I'm sure you wouldn't have been skeptical either if he had said this person just told him that Belichick made Butler a healthy scratch.

The logic is hilarious.

Was this on Tuesday of SB week?

We've all been on here for over a decade and I'm sharing my info with you guys because I like you. If you choose to believe a whole in the wall over me then fine but no need to laugh at Andy for choosing to believe me.

No I just found out the last week or so. It does fit the rumors from SB week.

Wait do you mean the confrontation? Sounded like it was the week they were still here in Foxboro.

I actually hope you’re right. It would be a much better explanation than trotting out that ****bag defense that they did over a football decision or over the flu. But you’re an anonymous name on an internet message board that’s repeating information that he supposedly heard third hand. You’ll forgive me if I’d like further confirmation on it. That sort of willingness to just accept what one is seeing online without further research and/or confirmation is the reason why foreign entities are so eager to infiltrate social media.

Sorry...thats what I meant. The confrontation between Malcolm and BB jr took place on Tuesday of SB week.

Well if its true that would be a legit reason for butler not to play.

Butler was on the starting player list the Patriots gave to the broadcaster (NBC, as I recall). That tends to undercut SBB's claim, as we would expect BB to have made such a key decision that close to game time, when he'd had time prior. That doesn't mean that SBB is wrong, but I think it does tend to make his claim seem less likely.

And, even if it's true, that doesn't justify keeping him out all game, IMO. You don't punish the team over a player who'll be gone after that game.

It is and it isn't. Being drunk and baked on a Tuesday is not a legit reason to be held out of a Sunday game. He was limited Wed and a full participant on Thurs.

Unless Bill decided to practice him so not to create a circus but fully intending to put him on ice Sunday?

I hate making posts like these because it's really easy to sound ****ty/fake. But I have a source as well that I trust. It's all 2nd/3rd hand but it is pretty close to the situation.

I asked if I could make a comment here about it and was asked not to so I'm not. So all I can say is I really like your posts.

The problem I have is that maybe the punishment is deserved but is now also punishing the rest of the team. At some point I think you gotta replace Jordan Richards. (Rowe gets a bad rap I think Malcolm doesn't stop that TD either)
