Pass.......

Pass.......

What about Clive Owen?

I thought he would be pretty Good TE coming from the U If Gruden wants no part of him that should tell ya...pass!

Can he block?

According to scouting reports I've read, he was apparently adequate or better in college as an inline blocker; not so much as a move guy. Even that much blocking is kinda rare among college TEs these days. Not a great receiver or even route-runner, but did contribute some in the Raiders passing game in 2015 & 16.

Walford had become a distant 3rd TE (of four) on the depth chart behind Jared Cook and Lee Smith in 2017, and his season ended on IR with a concussion suffered in wk-14. The Raiders also have 2017 UDFA Pharaoh Brown on the roster.

Walford hasn't been a significant contributor on ST during his career.

Walford's salary would've been $1.91M for 2018.

Lee Smith, BTW, was a 2011 5th-round pick by the Pats who was claimed off waivers by the Bills, ostensibly on his way to the Pats Psquad. He's since become a premier blocking TE, and Gruden just re-signed him to a new 3-year contract (no financial details publish yet, AFAIK).

Troy Niklas is still out there if all we want is a big blocking TE, I'd bring him in first.

I miss Lee knew he would be poached when we attempted to snatch him.

Haven't heard that name since that Draft many moons ago...where's he now the Arena Football League??

Walford's another flame-out from the 2015 TE class, one of the worst of recent memory.
Maybe he might be worth a visit post-draft, at the earliest.

Definitely not a "sign the beast" moment, here. And, clearly, the Raiders expectations for him were just a tad high.

He certainly doesn't appear to have the upside potential that Jake Hollister does, but he may be more effective in the immediate future, depending on how Hollister progresses in his second season.

In any case, Walford does seem best suited for a spot in the emergency rolodex.
