I said the defense is better, and the offense might be OK, depending on the play at OT (and additional of a LT). [I ignore the possibility of losing Cooks or ground]

We expect to have production from new draftees and other additions plus we expect some production from those injured who are coming back. The open question is whether this will offset this year's injuries.

I’m very concernproud d with the O-line which was already mediocre

Your post runs counter to the title.

Perhaps

"Offense might be OK isn't a rousing endorsement". I do HOPE and PLAN that our LT position will indeed be adequate.

Also, while I agree that we are as good as last year's PLAYOFF team, this doesn't translate to have as good a team as last year. We WILL have injuries.

Are we better or worse on special teams?

I actually believe we could be better than last season if 2 things happen.

1. We avoid key injuries to our best players (Edelman and Hightower last year for example)

2. We hit on this next draft and avoid injuries or medical issues preventing them from seeing the field (Garcia and rivers)

We are always worse at this point because every year the team is different and it takes between 6-8 games to hit our stride.

Nothing personal but the thread is inane.

We do not know how the draft will go or who we will sign that gets cut elsewhere post draft.

This team needs to hit on the draft. Need LB maybe a corner. I am not in love with the tackles in this draft. Maybe they can select one later in the draft

There are no games today. We don’t know who is being added in (and after) the draft. We don’t know which of last year’s rookies will emerge.

They are still one of the strongest teams in the league. NE just needs a few breaks when it counts in early 2019.

If Edelman is back to 90-95% of who he was, the offense is immediately and vastly better.

I'm not that worried about LT. We are bringing back 4 of 5 on the oline and these guys are good and young.

Getting Edelman back is more important than anything we lose at the skill positions.

Defense should be better. Shelton and Clayborn help fill our biggest need. Returning Hightower is as big to the D as Jules on offense. Jmac just has to be better than the 2017 Butler and our secondary would be improved on.

STs is always good and add in an electric Returner and it's possible all 3 phases are better.

At least until injuries start.

A lot of this ends up metastizing in season. People were touting 16-0 last year. That lasted a hair over three hours after kickoff, with Edelman the first card to fall.

Then people were panicking that they would be terrible and they ended up with a lead with 5 minutes left in the Super Bowl with their opponent forced into a 4th down in their own territory.

They had injuries last year.

Regardless 8 more months to shape the roster.

Add High, JE11 and no Malcolm hospitalization BS and they win the SB by 2TDs.

Ja, nein.

I too am having a hard time reconciling the title of the thread with the post that should be backing it up, lol.
The OP is a solid poster. I think he's trying to reconcile all of the roster moves, losses and players who were injured and coming back like the rest of us
