Fleming expected to sign with Dallas.

Agreed on that, but curious why Waddle was always behind Fleming on the depth chart throughout the season.

Whose depth chart? And at which positions?

Why would Waddle have been first up to sub for Cannon at RT if he was behind Fleming on a depth chart for RT?

Flemming was mostly a disaster, played better with help, but mostly a "look out" tackle.

Played well in the Super Bowl and AFCCG against the best two defensive lines in football. He got a lot of help from Allen and others, but he wasn't a disaster when called upon last year. Definitely prefer Waddle though and Tobin and Croston and the others should be able to fill in for Fleming.

Not sure when that happened. He played over Fleming until he injured his ankle (?) and remained limited with that until the end.

That pretty much sums it up.

Good bye mighty Cam Fleming and thank you for your contributions.

IIRC, Waddle injured the ankle during wk-12, was out wk-13, and then active, but mostly on the bench for wks 14-17. I think he played a handful of snaps in a couple of those games - testing it out, probably.

Anyway, it was just a matter of the Pats playing the healthiest player.

The Patriots started off free agency with a gaping hole at left offensive tackle
and enter the final stages with the same hole. I hope Bill Belichick knows a hell of a lot more about the potential of Croston, Garcia, Jelks, and Tobin than we do.
There will be a lot of wailing on this forum if Bill's judgment is wrong and Brady
gets injured.

I guess you missed Waddle being resigned. But then again you might just be trolling.

You can add Waddle to the list and my remarks remain the same. He's
also unproven. Where are the visits from other available O-lineman and the
rumors of possible trades for veteran O-linemen?

He is unproven to you because your only outlet are games on Sundays. The coaching staff has been around him for 2 years. He is not unproven to them.

There will be no trades for veteran OL because Waddle is that player. Like it or not.

I’m going to start the wailing now in case it doesn’t happen

You are probably right but management is playing Russian roulette.

The position will likely be addressed in the draft next month. Any tackle worth trading for would’ve been nothing more than an expensive, short term band aid.

Had it been like last year with 65m to spend, things may have been different.

This front office is not exactly known for broadcasting it's trade talks. In keeping with the Russian theme, Stalin's Kremlin had more info leaks than Belichick's Fortress Foxborough has. As for the roulette part of it 'management' has failed in certain areas in the past (WR, Reche F Caldwell as a 1???) but their track record when it comes to putting together an O line has been pretty damn solid. Unless you think 18 years is too small a sample size and the jury is still out .

Cam Fleming was listed as the starter at RT in the Super Bowl but I didn’t realize Waddle had an injured ankle and don’t recall him on the injury report.

Boy, I took for granted how good we had it when we had Fleming and Waddle as backups.

You guys can rag on Fleming all you want but our OL in general, not to mention lack of depth, scares me.
