To me, the all caps title highlights the fact that 'Waddle' is an unfortunate name for a NFL player to have.

In fact, I don't think anyone would find it a great name.

But yeah, I'm glad he's back.

And it's always fun to criticize thread titles too.

I think it's actually pronounced, "wah-DEL", in the same way that the chain store, "Target" is properly pronounced, "tar-ZHAY". French, you know. Like his first name.

Personally I couldn't care less where he plays. Just seems hes done a really stellar job at RT.

Its a philosophical debate. Do you make one position great and the other average -to-below average or both just OK?

IIRC they did move him to LT during the Dallas game in 2015 and for a couple quarters he did ok.

Who knows.

Could also be about distribution of other blocking resources?

If Cannon can handle RT without much help from a TE, then you only have the one end of the OL to assist, rather than both at the same time (perhaps), if Cannon isn't as good at LT.

It'll be interesting to see how the Pats work this all out.

THAT is the million dollar question now.

I don't think that there should be any question about whether the Pats will have a couple of quality starting NFL T's lining up this season. The only legit questions at this point are WHO will be the LT? CAN either or both stay healthy? And finally, WHICH ones of the remaining OT's currently on the roster and those who will be added, will emerge as viable and dependable backups.

The Pats are OK on the OL at this point with 2 talented starters and enough potential backups that should provide sufficient depth. They have improved the DL to some degree already and hopefully will add more talent through the draft. The secondary needs to get younger. All the receivers will benefit from another year with Brady and Edelman's return.

At this point, all the angst that occurred at the start of FA has been mitigated. I'm pretty confident that the Pats are building toward putting out a very competitive team this season. That being said, most of the rest of the league has gotten better as well. I think the Bills have had a great offseason. Everyone seems to have a ton of high draft picks to get excited about, and we will be picking the dregs from every round...again. So while I think we, overall, are getting better, the competition never gets easier.

It's always interesting to me that the "Jimmie Johnson Chart" is always included in discussions of the "average value" of the players who are picked at various spots. Johnson's chart never had anything whatsoever to do with the expected value of the players selected with those picks.

Johnson's chart was always exclusively about documenting and quantifying the comparative value that teams historically gave to those places in line - based entirely on how much teams had (in the past) traded to move up and how much teams had accepted to move down.

Right, but that's the point - teams wildly overinflate the relative value of high end picks.
