Giardi: Patriots Players are Miserable

They are being bad doggies. B.B. will swat them on the nose a few times and it’ll be ok

More BS story, had they won the Superbowl would they still be unhappy? I can only imagine the amount of discipline it takes to make a run at 8 super bowls.Unhappy players need to get off the ship and go play somewhere else.

There's way too much smoke around this for there not to be a fire. The media are likely hyping it up to proportions that it shouldn't be hyped up to, but there's definitely something going on behind the scenes. Hopefully it's squashed by the time next season starts.

Brady and Gronk made it worse with their social media activities. That's something that annoys me. Have an issue? Okay, but please keep it internal.

If they're unhappy, why shouldn't they be allowed to talk about it?

I still think that this is a generational gap issue. Bill is very old school, coming from the parcells tree. Former pats like Bruschi, Bravel, Seymour and Troy Brown were able to handle it. Today’s millenial players want a softer coach, one that’s fun to be around and knows what Facebook is.

BTW, interesting that you hear no complaints from Edelman. Why? His father was a tough SOB. Bill is (likely) relatively easy compared to him.

Why do they need to talk to the public about internal problems? You think it's great if for example you and your wife have some issues and your wife goes to Twitter / Facebook to talk to a grand audience about it?

Brady is not a millenial and Gronk's been on the Patriots since 2010.

Most larger companies have policies about employees publicly criticizing them on social media. Not saying what Brady or Gronk did really qualifies as that, or that the Pats necessarily are even bothered by it, just that it's usually frowned upon in professional settings to air grievances outside of closed doors.

Guys, I don't think Lawyer Milloy is coming back...

I think Brady’s issue has more to do with how Bill views Guerrero, and Gronk’s family has butted heads with the patriots for years.

That's the trend these days. All so they can play offense-dominated games with final scores of 44-41 for millennial fans sitting in open-air stadium lounges swigging $10 cups of light beer while gazing at fantasy league results on their smartphones and glancing occasionally at the field before leaving halfway through the fourth quarter. Damn millennials!

This is the first thing that went through my mind as well. There is no reason to think that football is somehow immune to the same pressures that generational distance causes in every other organizational setting. The older the coaches get, the larger the gap, while (in general) the less patience they'll have to bridge it. This doesn't point to a flaw in the coaches; it just acknowledges that they are human.

Where there's smoke there's fire.....and for the past year or so.... lots of smoke has been seeping out of Gillette.....like it or not.
Days of Our Lives could have been broadcast out of Foxboro given the extreme number of dramas that took place inside the stadium.
The core plot centered on the team's future at QB.
Subplots: Guerrero, coordinators, Butler, Gronk, Deflategate
Overriding theme: Internal power struggle
Forces at hand: Human nature

Frankly....the Patriots 2017 season would be a compelling Hollywood script with their SuperBowl appearance being only a side note.

The coach trying to politely force out the revered QB.
The QB stepping beyond his own drawn boundaries and exerting his accumulated power within the organization for the first time.
An owner who must weigh the costs of loyalty both short term and long.
Everything else is just one scene cat fights that keep the story flowing and exciting.

The defining scene:
Robert Kraft returns to his Brookline mansion in the early morning hours after a night of clubbing. He finds Brady sitting on his front doorstep....looking forlorn but stylish.....wearing a 3/4 length Burburry trench coat with a wide flared collar. Concerned, Krafty brings Tom into his home and instructs the servants to be left alone. Sitting on his booster seat at his kitchen table with Brady seated next to him, sun barely peaking above the 12th fairway....shining horizontal rays on the golden-boy protagonist, Robert's view is now clear. Time can wait as long as he has Tom. They seal their union with a peck on the lips and a pledge to make Bob more billions. (Fade out)
(Fade in) A single car rests in the Gillette parking lot.....parked beneath a sign that states HCNEP. The sound of a ringing phone is barely heard....then absolute silence. The camera speeds through the tunnels, onto the field. Slowly the camera films a 360 degree perspective of Gillette and the final shot: an impactful image of the 5 Championship banners. In the background....a scream can be heard echoing through this cathedral of football..."You did what?"
(cut)

Let's bottom line this...BB underestimated TB12's power on this team and the influence he has on it's owner and it's players.

When BB was forced to trade Jimmy G over TB12, he got butt hurt! So badly, he made huge mistakes 1. He took it out on Brady's trainer and removed him from the team sidelines and team plane 2. He planted the sources for Seth Wickersham ESPN article with all fingers pointing at Brady. Lastly, when he mysteriously benched Butler in the biggest game of the year with zero explanation to players and fans and that is where he lost the team. So bad that I am 100% convinced Brady went to Kraft the day after the SB and told him if Josh goes, I go because Brady desperately needs a buffer and Kraft made sure Josh wasn't going any where.

A SB win would have defused most of this but it would have resurfaced again because in the end TB is pissed, frustrated and yes, feels unappreciated by his coach.

It's bad people, it's bad!

IF it is true, Gronk and TB12 are being a couple of whiny b*tches .

Do you think that maybe, after 17 years of listening to it, Tom is sick of Belichick's doom and gloom? Just maybe, he's had enough.

"Fer Chrissakes, I am TFB. Why don't you ease up on me? I know what to do. STFU already."

Brady says he wants to be appreciated. Kraft appreciates him. Fans appreciate him. So he's either talking about Belichick (likely) or the league (unlikely).

Um, Bill is making people unhappy. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Bill yell at Brady at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
