Official Free Agency 2018

Gronk isn't retiring..
You're overlooking the players who are returning from injury as well. You're not typically a nervous nelly, Supafly..
Well, Im not trying to be DaBruinz, but I have a hard time seeing any of this as an improvement, that’s all. Luckily, it’s only day one of free agency, so there’s plenty of time to add key pieces (an argument that I made last evening).

The poster whom I responded to stated that we’re in “at least as good of shape as last year at this time,” or something to that effect. I just highly disagree with that statement. No big deal.

After OT Andre Smith signed for 2 yrs, $4M/yr, it'll be interesting to see what the numbers are for Fusco and Sitton. We're not quite to the Dollar Tree parking lot for OL yet, but we might be getting close.

Any rumored interest in Fleming, Waddle yet?

That's the business.

Jules being back accounts for not signing DA as well, so that is an upgrade. We weren’t going to carry all those WRs most likely.

We took Burkhead over DLew so yes worse although better cap mgmt.

Obviously NS is a big loss but remains to be seen what we do.

So worse at the moment.

Branch was a non factor, Butler has a long way to go and RJF was helpful but not impactful. We cut some weak links knowning we have Guys returning from injury.
The wording of the statement claimed that we were “at least” in as good of shape as this point last year, so the injured players are being accounted for. My simple question was how he could possibly reach that conclusion, that’s all.

At any rate, it hardly matters. There will be plenty of time to try and replace some of these players.

We lost Solder, Lewis, and Amendola—with a Gronkowski retirement a possibility.

How on earth would anyone who’s being realistic view that as “better?” Honestly? Not meaning to be negative, but I’m baffled by how you’re reaching this conclusion on day one of FA.

The defense saw Branch, Butler and Francois swapped out for Danny Shelton. This side of the ball is an improvement, too?

I'll try to help...

Amendola gone, Edelman and Mitchell back. Cooks in second year.

Lewis hurts, but Burkhead back healthy and James White can take a bunch of those reps. They're not naked back there at all.

Solder...well, this one could be big, but Cannon back healthy is a good thing on a line that was improving and growing tighter together.

Gronkowski is a wild card right now, but I don't see him leaving. I think the O will be fine.

The D...Branch was not good last year and Ricky Jean Francois was a band=aid - it is what it is. Shelton/Valentine is an upgrade in the middle of the DL.

Butler? Well, we'll see. He wasn't good last year. He was GREAT the year before, but he seriously underperformed last year, so his leaving is a subtraction of potential, but not necessarily of performance.

YES, as the first hour of free agency is past, we need to sign a corner and a LT. IMHO, we have had much, much more serious issues going into free agencies in past seasons.

DEFENSE
You think that the front seven is worse with
Valentine and Shelton instead of branch (and all his 2017 contributions) and Francois?
Hightower and Rivers instead of Harris and Flowers

OFFENSE
I think that Edelman and Mitchell (and Britt) are more valuable than Amendola.
Burkhead was injured for most of the year. He and White will get the reps of Lewis.

They probably read your posts...

And they are now worried and concerned!

HA!

Well I heard you trying out for the patriots cheerleading squad since you loving waving the pom poms. Good luck bro

Shelton has to play like the player he was in college. Maybe he was out of position but bill needs to get the best out of him. We need to wait and see what he will bring to the d line.

Shea McClellin hasn't been cut to this point. This might be why.

That's the business.

I’ve always hated that team. Now I hate them even more. I hope we both make it to the Playoffs again and we crush their asses!

They're not YET as good as they were going into last year, on paper.

But they're better than they were at the end of last year, given the serious injuries (Mitchell, Jules, HT) and the unexpected fall-off-the-cliff in performance (Branch, Butler).

There's still a lot of work to do. DL, LB, LT...

It's more his comments about being jilted for playing time I'm sorry man I root for the laundry nobody can say I'm not loyal to the Pats.

Everyone is arguing about players that aren't here anymore. All I care about are the financials on Burkheads new deal. If he can stay healthy, We won't miss Lewis all that much.

He starts as a backup to Valentine. Last year we had Francois.
