Jarvis Landry traded to Browns

Browns will be a playoff team next year. Mark my words.

I don't know about playoffs but they're going to wins some games this year.

FWIW (likely not much)...

Just goes to show that the Dolphins are run by absolute idiots. Amazing.

So the browns trade for landry, who would be a free agent but got franchise tagged (therefore has no contract). What does Landry get, if he and the browns do not agree on a new long term deal? Does he still play one year for the franchise tag?
Are the dolphins allowed to tag another player or can the browns tag another player of their roster?

Tannenbaum is now doing for (to) the 'Fins what he did for (to) the Jetes for years. In a sick-and-twisted way, he may have done almost as much to maintain the Pats divisional dominance as Brady and Belichick.

Tannenbaum: "Ruining AFC East teams since 1997!"

The really weird part is that Tannenbaum's first NFL job was as an assistant in the player personnel department in Cleveland - under Belichick. [Cue "X-Files" theme.]

Might have been the most idiotic franchise tag I have ever seen.

The Franchise Tag is actually a one-year contract.

Unless the Browns are successful in negotiating a long term deal with Landry, he gets $16M+ for the 2018 season (whether he actually plays or not) and becomes a free agent again in 2019. The Browns actually have very little leverage here.

They gave up next to nothing for him, I can’t really fault them for this one.
Based on how the rest of the day followed, I agree with you. Taking him at a dumb cap # was one thing, but getting him, getting a new deal, and getting Taylor makes them a better team than where they were.

Yeah for the Browns it really was a great deal. They need to hit the minimum spending anyway and giving themselves a chance at a capable slot receiver for minimal compensation is fine. I am just sad that Tannenbaum didnt get fully screwed on his genius plan to tag Landry.

They probably had a deal with the Browns all along. Who the hell knows, right ?

The tag deadline has come and gone

They have improved no doubt.

Taylor is way better than anything they had at QB.
Landry was the most coveted slot WR and is only 25 paired with Gordon.
They will still add a RB and have the 1st and 4th picks.

Browns will always be losers. I won't believe it till i see it. Maybe they win a couple of more games. Not a fan of their coach either.

The Browns have the second best title-winning % of all time, right behind the Green Bay Packers and three spots ahead of the Pats, who are tied for 5th with the Dallas Cowboys (5 titles in 57 years).

Landry’s reaction.
