2018 NFL Draft Binkies

Timon Parris.

I'm going with a Nose Tackle. Not sure who that is yet. Most likely Tim Settle but am not locked in on him yet.

Back to basics? 3-4 seems more like a system these days, not the base system. Am I wrong? Definitely open to being wrong. But with the amount of 4-3 and nickel I wonder about going after a real nose tackle. He'd be "the DT with NT responsibilities" right? Some truck-sized mofo who clogs the middle?

When I say 3-4 it's basically discussing the type of personnel needed to run a 3-4 scheme. And yes a 3-4 requires a pure NT stud which is what I'm looking for or at least a player that can replace Branch's 2016 level of production.

So in my mind a 3-4 requires heavier personnel on the line and lighter personnel on the ends. A lot of power up the middle and faster on the ends.

How they line up on the line or which formation they use doesn't matter to me as much as which personnel they have to line up with. I read an article a while ago about how Nick Saban uses his 3-4 personnel in 4-3 formations about 75% of the time.

Okay that makes sense. But you just wait. David Wells. Book it. And I emphasize once again, I am employing the dartboard method.

Lamar Jackson's mine. Special player and his inconsistent accuracy can be corrected.

I like Hayden Hurst a lot too. Two players I could see the Patriots ending up with.

Lamar is getting a lot of attention on the radio waves lately.

The question I have about Jackson with the Pats - do you try to mold him into a dropback QB? Or do you adapt the offense (blocking schemes and the whole nine yards) to optimize his athleticism and skill set?

That was one of the debates I listened to on the radio yesterday. Basically "Why draft a dual threat QB if you want a pocket passer?".

I think being a pocket passer is a must. So mold him into a pocket passer, throw in RPO's and allow him to use his athleticism to escape pressure. The key would be his learning to be patient in the pocket. And if you're thinking about an after Brady QB a guy like Jackson would be fun to watch.

Lamar Jackson has been running the Erhardt/Perkins system at Louisville since his freshman year. Bobby P. installed the system when he became coach in 2015. Its the same system Brady and the Pats have used for years. While I don't think we have a chance of getting him he has had a great head start on the way we use our passing game.

So if we get Vea, we have new music to run out of the tunnel to, if we don't mind goofing on our own "only the team matters" thing

Vontae Mack- BEAST!

I think you have to mold the offense around your quarterback. But he's still a dropback quarterback, and the Petrino system isn't that different from Belichick's. His athleticism is probably unique at the position - better than guys like Wentz or Mariota, probably matched only by a young Mike Vick or Cam Newton, but he's bigger than Vick and faster than Newton.

I don't think he's that dissimilar from Carson Wentz coming out. They both had knocks on their mechanics and consistency, amd both are plus athletes (Jackson a plus-plus) and it took Wentz a year in the NFL to work out the kinks in his delivery. I suspect Jackson will be the same, which is why he's a perfect candidate to sit behind Brady for a year or two. But you'd run a similar offense to what the Eagles run, with a lot of RPO concepts, simply because you could do so.

The Patriots already do a fair amount of this, for what it's worth. Assuming nobody departs, the Patriots actually have a great setup for an even more prolific RPO offense. Gronk is the key, but you have good receiving backs and good blocking receivers.

I think Jackson's projection is a better Russell Wilson.
