Alan Branch Cooked

Alan Branch has always been kind of a notorious dipshit, this isn't really a new development. Belichick made some concessions along the way because he played a needed role, and he gambled a bit on Branch's maturity by giving him a new contract, but Branch turning into a whiny, lazy, unmotivated piece of **** wasn't exactly unforeseeable.

On the bright side, literally anybody with a pulse should outperform his 2017 production so it's not like the Pats are losing anything by cutting his ass.

i agree, but it just classeless. at least butler had some class after quitting on the team.

branch was kicked off numerous teams, he was lucky bb gave him
a shot, he bought in and then he just gave up, and here we are.

regardless, not a good look. why is he even doing an interview if he knows he is done here, too? how bizarre...

Branch was terrible this season and was inactive for almost the entire time. One year doesn't translate to the next - it's clear that you don't realize the difference of 365 days.

lmao

“that organization”

the guy quit on the team as did butler for ego reasons

no one is asking anyone to kiss ass, real pats fans are asking them to work hard, be a team player and check the ego at the door, and not get fat.

do this many people have reading comprehension problems here?
Butler quit on the team? What are you smoking?

He also said, "On our team, gossip don't travel." So it isn't just that organization, although realistically he knows the writing is on the wall.

Everyone has lost their minds.

A basically irrelevant (this year that is) defensive tackle wasn’t aware that a one non-elite cornerback was playing over another non-elite cornerback. I’m sure it had a huge impact on his ability to stuff the run.

Why is everyone so mad at him for merely answering a question? A good follow-up might be to ask Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead, or James White if they even know before game day if any of them are going to be a workhorse or have a lesser role that day. Or ask Ryan Allen if he knows he Gronkowski will will be a decoy. Honestly, I believe this stuff is very common. You have injuries, matchup concerns, weather, and last minute decisions all the time. You have different units and different coaches. I have much trouble believing that a single player’s benching really effects other players doing their jobs. It’s a great easy excuse though.

yes. butler clearly was ticked off bb gave gilmore the money he gave him, he was distracted all year, had his heart set on going to the Saints, and his erratic play got him demoted. since it is tied to his great year in 2016, a bad one in 2017 after rejecting 7 mil per, only to cry during the anthem, means he quit on the team.

in fact, i will go one further:

for different reasons, kony ealy, butler, branch, etc, all developed attitudes tied to money, which got them traded or benched.

it happened to sheard last year, too.

that's such a baseless accusation.

What we are talking about here is the power of unstated implications. When/if a player regresses, he is usually the last one to see it. Yet he will freely complain.

Another valuable piece of the defense along with Butler who our arrogant Coach refused to play, not only in the most important game of the year, but in Branch's case, basically the whole playoffs and beyond. Branch was Fanatastic in helping us get that 5th ring. A major plug in the middle of that DLine and then you watch some of those Eagle runs and you think wow, just like with Butler, can you imagine if Branch played and how he could have helped? Our arrogant Coach cost all of us a 6th Ring...it's inexcusable, arrogant and something we will all never forget...Josh McDaniels can't take over soon enough...

My grandfather on my father's side passed away long before he could see his Houston Astros win the World Series. My grandfather on my mother's side died 2 years before he could see his Saints win it all.

Instead of blaming my arragant coach for costing me my 6th ring, I'm grateful he helped win my first 5. But hey, that's just me.

Do we have any confirmation about that on Ealy? Everything I read said he was just too much of a freelancer, losing contain. There was no mention of money, and he was on his rookie contract having just been trading for underperforming.

Sheard earned praise from the coaching staff last year after working his way out of the doghouse. He never complained, was a contributor in the playoffs, and then left as a free agent when the Colts paid him well more than he was going to get in New England.

I don't think those two fit your narrative.

No time for facts, we've got players to hate on!

Cooked? Ya, I think that meal’s been served.

That’s a $3.55 million cap savings right there.

I noticed the "that organization" comment too.

I'm sure he knows he's not coming back. Wouldn't read much more into it.

Why does their need to be a mention of money? Isn't it always the money?

Ealy was a FA. BB plays a scheme here that is not contingent upon generating sacks. Sacks are a stat that can be used at the negotiating table just like interceptions.

Ealy was dealt due to a 'tude in Carolina just like Akiem Hicks was dealt from NOs.

Once a player mentally checks out, that's it.

Ealy, Branch, Butler.........All checked out mentally.

Agree on Sheard. He responded. These other guys clearly didn't.
