Brady to hold out of OTAs? - (Bogus Borges Report)

Youk should be nominated for "Brother-in-law-of-a-Patriot of the Week".

Unfortunately Youkilis himself knows first hand, dealing with the slander campaign that Larry Lucchino ran through the Globe that always tried to make Red Sox look good and the player look bad when a player departed.

Florio is going scorched earth on this one

What happens to Ron Borges after strike two?
As much as I hate to see a lynch mob forming (even with Borges as a target) he makes some good points. Borges took one sentence from a text message, didn't ask "Yee" for any clarification, used the word "sources" in his article, and did no cross checking (unless of course he has more than troll in his "sources"). The whole proposition was out of character for Brady yet Borges just went with it.
To ststatthe obvious, we've almost certainly seen the end of Borges. This is getting too much attention for him to be able to come back from.
You may be right.

If you want to go looking for a more sinister, vile, unscrupulous, slippery individual look no further than Larry Lucchino.

Borges should have been on to the hoax when Nick' s last text read "baba booey".

Regards,
Chris

This is almost as good as the two Ukrainian guys who just punked Adam Schiff.

Minihane said he had this guy Nick connect with Borges pretending to be Don Yee and played him like a fiddle. I listened to the interview w/ Nick on the way to work this am.

If hes lying an falsely propping himself up, he sure fooled me.
I know he had Nick on, but I missed the point that Minihane put him up to it. That's just not cool. Just another reason for me to think Minihane's a douche.

As much as I dislike Ron Borges' persona, I have never been a fan of prank calls like this. Never. I guess I always empathize with the person being pranked. I am really not happy that I have to empathize with Borges. Urgh... need to take an antacid pill after this one.

Don't people remember this prank gone bad? Tearful DJ apologises for prank call which led to nurse's suicide

It would be awesome if Brady restructured his contract to give the team more cap after this.

If tomase can find a job so will he . He will pop up on 98.5 soon.

That was a little over the top, but I think it was only a matter of time since this is just yet another example in a laundry list of them of how slanted and biased the media in general is when it either does or doesn’t suit them.

I directed it at you because I thought you'd like a joke. There's no politics intended whatsoever.

Yea and Minihane claims his motivation was Borges insulted his show and implied he didn't know how to get to Gillette Stadium.

Bad reporting by Borges and if I didn't think he was so destructive, bitter, terrible and spiteful I'd say that he didn't kind of deserve it.

But yea, Minihane basically ruined Borges's career over something petty.

And the K&C twitter account is bragging about it -- "Borges is Done"...

PFT has a write up:
“Somebody tweeted Ron Borges’ phone number and I just picked it up and for some reason I just thought, ‘Hey, I’ll text him and say I’m Don Yee.’ And he just went with it for some reason,” Nick in Boston said. “Here’s the funny part. Well, it’s all funny but here’s the funnier part: He tried to call me three times and I just didn’t answer. But then I was just like, whatever, screw it, I’ll just call him and he’s gonna know it’s not Don Yee. But I called him and I was just like, ‘Hey, Ronnie, it’s Don.'”

Nick in Boston indicated that he just wanted to screw around and was surprised at how easy it was to get a hoax story into the newspaper. Nick is probably not as surprised as Borges and his editors are.
So much for the power of the press.

Incredible that this got 3 dislikes when this was, indeed, the pure definition of fake news.

The foolish use of the dislike icon is rampant around here.

So, it's become clear that the Boston Herald didn't learn anything from Spygate when John Tomase screwed them by not verifying his source. Fast forward 9+ years and Ron Borges (aka wRONg BoGus) reports that Brady wants a new contract and plans to hold out OTAs..

Huge story. Makes front page of the Herald.. Just like Tomase's article years ago.. And it's FALSE. Just like Tomase's article.

Borges got pranked. He received texts / phone call from someone pretending to be Don Yee and Borges didn't bother to actually vet the source. Again, only ONE source.. And they ran a big article on it..

They get off on it. They also make a gazillion dollars off of it because lying and hating on the Pats in the media, is technically a new age business model that has proven to make them a ton of money. In fact, I would argue these angles have actually kept them from going out of business permanently, which is why it keeps happening.
Nah. It's personal with Borges. it has nothign to do with clicks or money. He hates Belichick with the burning heat of a thousand suns, always has, and he's always had the shiv out for him and he's been wrong so many times no one bothers to count anymore. Which just makes him even more furious.

"On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second-best tackle in the draft in Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sacks last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon." - Ron Borges, MSNBC after 2001 Draft.

"Belichick will not be so lucky. He doesn't have (Jimmy) Johnson's personality, which can be as jovial and charming as a snake oil salesman's. Worse, this Patriot team isn't going to win two Super Bowls any time soon..."
- Ron Borges, Boston Globe, 11/22/01

But yea, Minihane basically ruined Borges's career over something petty.

The plagiarism and overt agenda against the Patriots and BB in particular did that long ago. I don't think many considered him credible in the last decade or two.
