Did anyone see this? It seems like Steratore was going out of his way to purposely lie about what the catch rule is. Wow.

With Goodell making that announcement, Bisciotti running his mouth this week...it smells.

That was in no way, shape or form remotely a catch. It was called wrong on the field because of the speed of the play, but they had great replay angles to see the truth.

Sad, really. If the situation was, say james white, everyone would have claimed it was incomplete.

Sometimes you get the borderline calls and sometimes you don’t, but I don’t think you’ll find too many in our fanbase whining about it like you’ll see with other teams.

The bottom line is that they simply didn’t play well enough and that Philly was a very strong team this year. It was a very competitive game that we lost at the end. While it’s a damn shame, we’re on to next season. At least we didn’t lose to the Steelers, Jets, Broncos, Colts, etc (obviously, inside the conference) or the Giants, etc. Whatever. Let Philly enjoy their moment in the sun, I guess.

yeah, you are right. just somewhat annoying something like that could be a factor.

No doubt. When you think about it, there were 3 controversial TDs if you believe guys like Chatham who claim that the WR was lined up improperly on the Foles TD catch.

Sucks to see it come down that kind of margin of error, especially since we almost won despite all of that.

The truth is that calling it incomplete would have caused a **** storm because it's the Pats getting a "controversial" call again, this time in the Super Bowl. Steratore didn't want to do it. Going by the rules currently it was clearly an incomplete pass but whatever. I wasn't surprised that he didn't overturn it.

I agree about Philly. Excellent play calling in key situations and they forced a clutch fumble at the end. Sometimes you've just gotta tip your cap to the opponent. While the GOAT had a phenomenal game, the Eagles were still the better team overall. And Pederson out coached Belichick...by a lot! I could hardly believe it.

Isnt Al Riveron the one that makes the decision to overturn TDs.

Right, but does it make it right? So, you're admitting what I am saying. The NFL cheated us out of points in the SB, the first time in SB history where replay was available and this has happened.

So, we've had 3 total stolen draft picks possibly contributing to 2 SB losses, and a lie about a "walkthrough tape" that distracted the team in 2007.

May I ask a question? Where and when does stuff end?

That alignment thing would have been slightly ticky tack in my opinion. I think he is technically right, but you can see the WR check with the ref and the ref sort of shakes his head saying "you are alright"...

My point here is, it's creepy to see how orchestrated it is. One of the refs talking to BB is also programmed to say something that is not true. He says "he took 3 steps"...He completely ignored the fact Clement moved the ball to his other side of his body to reel it in.

The ball is not allowed to move AT ALL, when showing possession. It moved, and his hands were not around it yet. It was clearly incomplete.

They made it seem like a judgement call, but clearly it was not based on the rule.

It's pretty obvious Goodell told Rivers to "go back to the old way we did it" type of thing and there would never be an overturn of a call in that SB, even if correct, to "help" NE.

steratore spoke with riveron, and according to sound fx, both felt clement did not lose control of the ball even if he lost possession. steratore’s response was “that’s control all the way baby.” i don’t get it, but it is what it is.

I was happy that the refs let the players play.

On one of Gronk’s TDs, he gives a little push to the DBs shoulders to get separation. They’ve been calling OPI for that on the past, but not in this game.

All in all, I don’t blame the officials for the loss. And I wouldn’t cherry pick calls.

So "control" does not require "possession"? Lulz. Whatever. On to 2018. Pats need to win above the margin of referee going forward.

The loss wasn't on the officials in any way.
I think it was called well and it was refreshing to see players being allowed to play.
One or two of the big calls could have gone either way but the rules were applied with common sense.
In my view there's nothing to see here.

Thanks for the heads up, NEM.

I felt the game was reffed like crap. If your not going to call that wipeout on hogan then you are not a ref. The rest of the game was also crap. Illegal formation?

Remember the ineligible receiver outcry? That was legal yet everyone screamed and dug at their faces

Fans of the losing team usually do feel the game was reffed like ****. We seenit when the Pats beat teams, too. But you’re not going to see a big outpouring of support outside the New England bubble.

I don't think their would have been any Pats-getting-calls outcry if the second reach-fumble TD was called back. Viewers knew we did not get the first controversial TD call, and most certainly would have gone along (as did the NBC team) with balancing this out with the second close call going the Pats way.

Regardless of the calls, both offenses were chewing up the opposing defense. The Pats set records against that Eagles defense, too! Yet, but for that one critical stop, the strip sack, the only real good play the Philly defense made, they win. Most in the country probably felt Brady was going to lead the Pats down the field for the win.

That strip sack is on par with the Butler pick in SB49 and the late sack of Ryan in SB51 pushing the Falcons outside of FG range. Right time, right place for a play which changes the tone of the game.

Oh, I get it. I get it real good.

Agree, except for it being on par with Butler's play. I can name numerous sacks or plays like that in playoff games or even Super Bowls. What Butler did was beyond incredible. The timing of it, not to jump it too early to give it away, to hold onto the ball, etc.

If Eagles fans are to look at the same play with a Patriots' receiver with the catch, they'd all see what we see and say the refs gave the Pats a call.
