Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

No, I don't know what you're talking about.

And you were wrong, and should know better. These sort of things are not forgotten. We haven't forgotten helmet catch. We haven't forgotten 4th and 2. We haven't forgotten the Butler pick.

Even if interest shifts away for a while, no matter what teams make the Superbowl, there will be two weeks of media time that will need to be filled and they'll damn sure drag out every good and bad memory from past appearances by those teams.

Source????
Pretty sure that was just speculation from Felcher and Spazz. They were talking about possible scenarios that could justify his benching and one of them came up with that.

I knew you couldn't possibly believe any of the nonsense you were serving us up.
I do believe it. I mean screwing with Deus.

Read Reiss's article and report back. I want to know what the reaction is.

I would expect Brady to support a teammate. That’s who he is.
That doesn’t mean butler didn’t screw up.

Have any other examples of Brady taking sides in a controversial situation?

He would have said nothing, not thrown Butler under the bus IF Malcolm have done anything to deserve a benching.

But here he went out of his way to endorse Butler as a competitor and team mate, then we have Hightower who approved the Browner rip on BB.

You BB nut huggers need to get your heads out of your butts.

You’re really not screwing him over.

You just look dumb considering the hard stance you’ve taken since the thread was conceived and the fact that you refuse to relent, even though you’re completely wrong.
Go read Reiss's article smart guy.

The only question left is why did BB not at least try Butler after halftime when everyone else was getting toasted. I don't know why.

This is the most frustrating thing about the whole situation

Yeah, it's insane to think that something which so obviously might have impacted a game where the losing QB threw for over 500 yards, had 3 TDs and 0 picks, and lost would be forgotten in 3 years.

I also heard MB got in fisticuffs with Steve Belichick, WTF knows.

I play poker with a guy whose brother in law has a friend that works for a college team, and one of his friends that coaches in another conference knows the nephew of a long time NYFL scout who heard the same thing. It must be true.

Kraft needs to hold him accountable. Decision by committee now, hire GM.
That isn’t going to work. Belichick would never go for that, and besides, what difference would a GM have made in terms of benching Malcom Butler? None, whatsoever.

Bill Belichick has always run a tight ship in terms of what he believes in, and it’s gotten us very far. This decision didn’t work out. It’s as simple as that. It looks like he may have made a mistake, and it cost us a chance at having better odds to win the SB. It doesn’t mean that changes should be made or that anyone should try and run him out of town. He made a decision and it didn’t work out. I’m pissed too, but I would be devastated if he left.

To cope with the loss, some posters are imagining a version of Malcolm Butler that obviously did not exist in Bill Belichick’s mind, and then further imagining that their imagination is a more accurate representation of the reality of Malcolm Butler than Belichick’s practice observations of the real Malcolm Butler.

I remembered butler l playing very well in the second half against the jags. BB screwed the pooch. Butler's our best option out there.

Bill has made some radical game plan adjustments in the past. In one of the playoff games vs. Indy & Manning he had his safeties playing corner and his corners playing safety.

Maybe it started out with a game plan / football decision, going big nickle and playing the bigger Rowe at corner 2. Maybe Butler was active, in case that plan failed. But maybe Butler reacted so negatively / emotionally to not starting, BB decided he couldn't trust him, even as a reserve.

If it's not disciplinary, it has to be something like this, IMO. I'm not saying the reasoning is correct, but the overall scenario sounds more plausible than other theories.

Look I think BB's a heck of a coach. No ifs or ands but there's a BUT, he had the greatest defensive player in football history with Lawrence Taylor when he was a DC with the Giants. Was a below 500 coach without LT when he was with the Browns. He was also 5-11 his first year and 0-2 before having the greatest offensive player of all time take over at quarterback. He also had a bunch of Parcells guys at the beginning. Over the years our D really hasn't been much to write home about. IT WAS BRADY that was allowing this team to compete for championships and he almost pulled it off Sunday. Again, BB's a good coach but he's lucked into having the GOATs on both sides of the ball playing for him when he was successful.

High profile current Patriots players are coming out in support of Butler. High profile ex-Patriots are coming out in support of Butler. The whole thing is a clusterf**k that frankly, cost them a Super Bowl.

We still don't have enough info on this to be going crazy on either BB or Butler. We need more answers. I hope we get them, because this was obviously a big decision at a very big moment in time.

If the Butler practice story is the truth, I think the Patriots need to come up with a better scheme. Butler was benched in Week one against a similar scheme, and they allowed over 40 points against KC. That is one bad scheme.

BB screwed up big time. What's worse was the timing of it. The way he handled it was cowardly. Tell the guy he won't play a day before or days before that way maybe some of these guys would know ahead of time.

I don't trust BB any longer. I'm sorry I have been delusional for all this time.
