Content Post Dear Bill - Thanks for Giving Away the Super Bowl.

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

Then he should have just played him.

I can understand if he murdered someone but a little nightcap bowl in the Super Bowl ain't such a bad thing.
I disagree. Smoking weed the night before the Sb in a league where it’s a banned substance instead of focusing on the gane, if that’s even what happened is letting your team down.

if the decision was made an hour before the game, then how could it have been about performance during practice? That doesn't make sense..it was disciplinary...and it most likely cost the Pats a SB

BB did what he did out of pure vindictiveness and lack of care for the fans, players, and owner.

Bill had a point to prove and he did it quite convincingly.

I said please.

You’re dancing in circles trying to defend Bill and you’re tearing at the seams. I have no interest in continuously correcting your completely wrong take.
I am walking a straight line.

What you have no interest in is my responses continuing to blow your bs out of the water.
You have no argument other than I don’t like the result so I’m going to cry.

He couldn’t kick him off the roster Saturday night.

Had it happened earlier in the week perhaps he would have brought a corner up from the ps and made butler inactive.

Yes, that is another thing. There are reports Butler had been demoted during the bye week, that he was out of the picture even before sendoff... so why did they not bring in Ryan Lewis for Jones and cut Reedy?

Yes he did let the team down. And in an ideal situation that should not have happened. That was out of Belichick's control

But everything afterwards and during the game was in Belichick's control. He proved his point. But at what cost? Maybe a SB win?

I will believe it because it's what our coach said. I guess you're calling him a liar now? You keep bringing up that he wont throw a player under the bus but he didn't have to say anything. When asked if it was behavioral he didn't have to say no. He could have plainly said it was a team decision. Except he specifically said it was not punishment. Bill is not dumb and knows how to answer a question with a non-answer. He does it all the time. In this specific instance he chose to give an actual answer and you refuse to believe it.
He said exactly what he always says.

That wasn't the point was it wasn't this about the BB "CODE"?

If it was about WINNING play the man.

Are you seriously saying that the D was better with Butler on the bench and Rowe, Chung and McCourty playing out of position?

SERIOUSLY?
I'll keep saying this.

In BBs EXPERT football assessment, he did not think Malcolm was prepared to help the team win. He did not think Malcolm was ready to do his job.

People dont forget the fact that Bill is harsh and doesnt take crap IS WHY we get to where we are. You want a Tomlin on the team? Bill has rules, everyone else follows them.

There’s no argument that needs to be made.

Malcolm Butler could’ve helped this defense and Belichick cost the team a title by refusing to play him.

Period. End of story. There’s literally nothing left to discuss.

The only alternative was Bademosi.
The nickel with Bademosi would have failed worse than the big nickel.

The Big Nickel was proven to not have worked to the tune of 41 points. Sticking with it was moronic. At that time, you have to scrap it, move Bademosi to outside corner opposite Gilmore (if you're not putting Butler back in there), McCourty out of the box, Chung on Ertz, Rowe back to the slot, and Richards off the field altogether. You can't just stick with an alignment that's getting lit up like a Christmas tree, but that's what they did. That's on Belichick. So whatever way you want to slice it, the coaching is at fault here. Otherwise, who are you blaming for 41 points surrendered and a Super Bowl L? Because it's got to be someone's fault.

B.Bs coaching and decisions against Philadelphia were the worst of his career...it’s more embarrassing that he let a unknown rookie coach get the best of him.

I hope for and expect a big bounce back year for B.B..next time we get to the super bowl I’d love to see B.B. come up with a game plan just one time that dominates the opponent...

I'm sure Patricia had fault there.

In this case I agree with @PatsDeb that the punishment may not fit the crime, but we won't know for sure until/if we find out what that crime was. Are there any violations that you consider minor enough to allow Butler to play? I think there are.
My whole sentiment is that the punishment of the ENTIRE TEAM did not fit the crime. You can't bench your starting CB for the Super Bowl with no viable back-up plan, which is what BB did. And even if he thought he had a back-up plan, it was clear about 10 minutes into the game that the back-up plan was not going to work. And if he benched Butler right before the game with no warning to the other guys on defense, then even more shame on him. Adjust like you always do, go win the game, then deal with Butler. BB deviated from his own formula, despite what others are saying here, over his anger at Butler. He wronged Tom Brady, Gronk, and the other 50 guys on the team. He pulled the rug out from under Matt Patricia and left him with no way to make adjustments, a hall mark of the Pats, and particularly this year, where the defense often gave up no or minimal points in the 2nd half once they knew what the other team was doing. You worked all year to get to the Super Bowl then threw it away, many times over. Why? You never have to look at Butler again if you don't want to. The other guys on the team aren't going to defend Butler either way. If he is an immature distraction they'll be glad to see him gone too, but they sure would have liked his skills on the field on Sunday. Some on here are saying I am defending Butler or giving him a pass. I am not. Shame on him many times over for letting down his teammates and the Pats. I just don't think the head coach should have joined him in doing that.

He decides if he wants to follow the team rules that allow him to play. The other 52 guys didn’t have a problem whth that.

Of course it had to do with issues. Belichick is never going to make those comments publicly. You are grasping on to something ridiculous. And you know better.
So it is okay for you to ignore what the coach says and speculate.
