The possibility that that, coupled with his having to stay behind an extra day in Boston in the hospital and possibly bad performances in practice led to it. The point is we don't know, and the idea that Belichick just suddenly lost his mind or (my personal favorite) just had to prove how arrogant he is is beyond stupid.
I don't by the Belichick grudge conspiracy theories, but I think he needs to answer to why he waited until after warmups to decide that not playing Butler on Defense was the best option. If there was a good chance Butler wasn't going to start then he shouldn't have been getting reps in warmups it may have given others a chance to get things right.
I guess. The offense played good enough. The defense didn’t. Idk if having butler in there changes things but I’m pissed we didn’t get a chance to see if it would.
Ok, so you're just a blind follower. And even when belichick does something wrong or questionable you will just turn a blind eye because of past achievements, got it. Idk why you bring up being spoiled by success and SB rings as if it has anything at all to do with this conversation.
I hated Jordan Richards even being ON the 53 man at the end of T.C.
So yeah, I want to know why BB starts HIM in the biggest game of the year over a PROVEN big game performer. There is a back story here that has yet to come out. On the surface it makes no sense.
Never mind. You should probably go root for the Jets.
it would have been garbage with him. One guy can't fix that cluster****.
I am trying to think of the second one. The Clement play, and...?
Either way, doesn't matter. The D couldn't make enough plays tonight.
Again. Richards was not started over Butler. Those are different positions. Richards would have been on the field either way in certain sub packages.
I guess.
They just sucked all around.
WTH, was Cooks doing? Jumping over a 6' DB?.. Running around in circles ATC?
Baffling.
Gronk was concussed? IDK?
Just to point out a few.
Just not good enough.
Oh well.
Howe was started over Butler. And no, Richards wouldn't have been on the field because Rowe would have been tasked to cover the other TE instead of the outside receiver.
Bill's the greatest coach in football history, but that was one boneheaded decision, and it'll be talked of the way Pete Carroll is talked of for failing to give the ball to Marshawn Lynch at the goal line. Prideful and wrong. And he could have changed it any time.
Belichick did Butler dirty. It’s unforgivable

Except we have multiple players saying they knew the entire plan going into the game. So this was not a last minute knee-jerk reaction.
