Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

This is largely Belichick's defense and his decisions being made. I don't think Patricia is as involved as you make him out to be.
Horseshit.

I don't by the Belichick grudge conspiracy theories, but I think he needs to answer to why he waited until after warmups to decide that not playing Butler on Defense was the best option. If there was a good chance Butler wasn't going to start then he shouldn't have been getting reps in warmups it may have given others a chance to get things right.

I'm not "pretending" about anything. I'm going off of what bill himself said and what malcom himself said. I'm not just saying random nonsense. Bill said him benching malcom wasn't for disciplinary reasons. Malcom was literally in tears saying the team gave up on him.

I have no doubt bill THOUGHT he was doing what was best for the team...........I'm not questioning that at all.....I'm questioning the decision to bench one of his best players. If some information comes out that somehow justifies it I will say i was wrong. But as of now, absolutely terrible decision that probably costed us a 6th ring.

You're just pretty sure that having NOT watched them practice all week, you know better than Bill who DID watch them practice all week.

I shouldn't be surprised. Super Bowl losses bring out the very worst in people.

To all those who think that Belichick threw away a Super Bowl by not playing Butler, I suggest finding another team. Belichick had given up on Butler, as Butler told us. He certainly believed that starting Rowe was a better option for the team, and that Jones was a better nickel.

Personally, if that were the case, I still might have played him as a sub instead of Bademosi. But that choice was likely made in practice.

Beleichick won't change. After all, his methods have been shown to be so flawed. And those coaches chosen by him will follow his lead.

Bill's the greatest coach in football history, but that was one boneheaded decision, and it'll be talked of the way Pete Carroll is talked of for failing to give the ball to Marshawn Lynch at the goal line. Prideful and wrong. And he could have changed it any time.

Horseshit.
What on Earth do you think Belichick does then? You think he gives away the majority control of the defense to Patricia? Really? I'm sure it's that way for the offense, save for decisions like going for it. But not for the D.

I dont think i'll ever understand of benching Butler for the game. If he was really not in the physical shape needed for the game, make him inactive. This just leaves a bad feeling with me in addition to the loss.

I've watched malcom play all year. Is he all of a sudden, in the biggest game of the year, not good enough to play anymore? Lol, ok. You keep telling yourself that. That benching our best corner was in the best interest of the team.

Been a fan since 94 when Bledsoe came in and im not changing now. And yes I will criticize Bill on his performance tonight. It sucked. He’s lucky brady and the offense made it look respectable. Butler started all year and if the defense is going to get beat, then get beat with our best guys out there. Don’t cut the teams legs out from under them.

Why would you think that?

Why would you think that?
Too vague. Not sure what you're referring to. Neither did you address my question. Do you think Patricia has majority control of this defense and scheming?

You make it sound like Butler was n tears, looking back at a game he thought he could have helped him. His crying started before the game, as we all saw.

Wasting yourtime this is another one of those annoying BB cultists who think the guy does absolutely no wrong, even when he clearly does.

Malcolm Butler was this team's best cornerback.

Won us 2 rings. Made a pro bowl.

Team defense was amazing when he was #1 corner and Gilmore was out hurt.

This single handedly LOST the Super Bowl for us

.
One thing I won’t do is blame Gilmore.

He was a lone bright spot along with Chung tonight. He really improved as this year went on.

He had a bad year. The possibility that that, coupled with his having to stay behind an extra day in Boston in the hospital and possibly bad performances in practice led to it. The point is we don't know, and the idea that Belichick just suddenly lost his mind or (my personal favorite) just had to prove how arrogant he is is beyond stupid.

The Eagles were 10-16 on third down. That's pathetic.
What was worse was how many first downs they were making on first and second downs. It was BRUTAL to watch the cushions they were getting, and the crappy tackling from the LBs.

I love it.
BB went from the GOAT to " The guy who lost a SB, because our above JAG, CB was kept out of the game"..

Everybody is to blame.
Nobody played, coached good enough.

They stunk... The trick plays were pathetic, missed FG's, X pts ... etc

They just lost.
