OT: Salty Jags Fans

That one on hogan was blatant and was not called. I was gripping in the gdt about that one. The whiners can only point out one supposed hold the pats supposedly made. It’s not convincing tho.

Anyone got a vid clip of what jags cried about where Amendola head butted a guy? I watched the whole game and can’t see it but they insist he should have been ejected for the hit.

They're just desperately grasping at straws if they think amendola should have been ejected. Myles Jack got away with straight up tacklin a guy in the end zone well after the play was dead. they called that stuff loose both ways and the Jags were if anything the clear beneficiary on the whole

The fanbase of the losing team blaming the refs for their defeat? That's such an unusual concept.

I'll cut them slack, with our success we're an easily hatable team. I'm sure they're thinking "c'mon man, do you really need a 6th. Can't we just have one?"

I'd be devastated too if we lost a key playoff game in which victory was looking likely.

Bro, its classic. They literally just created a new thread called "Even Max Kellerman is talking about how the refs helped the Pats"...... Max...... Kellerman...... the same guy who said Brady was a bum and would fall off of a cliff. The same guy who is a known Patriots hater. They are truly following the words of Max Kellerman LOL

Yeah, Max Kellerman is a complete joke who should be absolutely embarrassed but instead wears his non-sense with pride.

Jags were so last week. I don't get why we are talking about their fans. Let the first fan whose never complained about the refs in a loss cast the first stone.

It's one thing when the fan base cries about the officiating but a whole nother thing when the players cry. Loser mentality, probably won't be close next year, they blew their load this year and choked it away.
I get that feeling too. I find it funny how, at the end of the game when it is clear who is losing, each announcing crew tried to talk up that team (Jags/Vikes) by saying things like “they’re a good team.... they’ll be back here....”

Quite honestly, I think each team overachieved and won’t be back - certainly not to the CCG level.

Yep.....

http://static.nfl.com/static/conten.../pdfs/10_Rule7_BallInPlay_DeadBall_Scrimm.pdf

Rule 7.2.f (Ball is declared Dead When)

(f) when an opponent takes a ball that is in the possession of a runner who is on the ground; or Note: An opponent may take or grab a ball (hand to hand) in possession of a runner who is on his feet or is airborne

Looks like he is on the ground to me....

Hmm...

Lewis was on the ground, with the ball, but was the ball in his possession? That requires full control and is at least debatable.

Yeah -- I don't think that particular rulebook cite is determinative.

From the way FootballZebras worded things I get the sense that this is one of those officiating mechanics things, not an actual rule. I'm guessing that technically the ref is supposed to watch the defender and Lewis and see if he actually touched Lewis while taking the ball, but because that's so hard to do the refs are instructed to simply always blow the whistle when a player on the ground takes the ball from another player on the ground and then confer as to whether or not the ballcarrier was down by contact or if it was a recovered fumble.

When Keenum threw the pick, then fumbled, putting Minnesota deep in a hole, they were constitutionally incapable of climbing back and simply fell apart.

Minnesota wasn't coming back big on anyone, and that's a fatal flaw. They have a solid defense, but showed their colors when it mattered - they never should have gotten through the Saints.

Jacksonville has a TON of money on their D - like Denver. They feasted on an easy schedule in a horrid division and gained confidence and swagger. Will they be back? If they can keep the D together - $$$?, age? - they should win the South again next year. If they're like the '03 Panthers, well, how'd that work out?

I'm inclined to cut the Jags and their fans a little slack. It's not like the entitled sour princesses in Pittsburgh, this might have been their only shot at the top, so of course they're going to go through all the stages of grief when it gets taken away from them. And if you're a pro ballplayer, you get to go through all that with cameras rolling and microphones in front of your face, you're going to wind up regretting some of the things you say.

That said, I would have hoped that the Jacksonville fans would at least show the level of class exhibited by Atlanta fans, who were largely able (once they calmed down) to accept the loss with a certain dignity.

On the Jack tackle, all the Patriots were complaining to the ref about it, and when the ref was assuaging them he had a smile on his face, like "Yeah, yeah fellas, I know you want a personal foul, but I'm not giving it to you," and a photo was snapped at that moment. The picture shows a smiling ref celebrating with players after a big Patriots TD.

It will be a dogfight for these teams to get back, and that includes the Patriots. But no one will be surprised if the following teams are in the AFCG next year: Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Steelers, Raiders, Titans, Patriots, Jaguars.

The only teams I count out are the Colts, Bills, Phins, Jets, Texans, Bengals, Browns and Broncos.

It's hard to get back. There are 7 other teams with just as good a chance as you of getting there.

This is why I really want the Pats to dominate this SB from opening drive to the end. They will have no excuses if that happens....if Pats can win by a huge margin, refs will never be in the discussion !
I want a game with no heart stopping moments or screaming at my T.V.

This may have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but it bears repeating:

What was one of the common complaints during the regular season? There are too many flags. There's a big play, but you have to wait to see if there's a flag before you celebrate. It slows down the game and the refs have too much of an impact.

What happened in the playoff games this past weekend? The refs kept their flags in their pockets for the most part and let the teams play. Now, people complain that there weren't enough penalties and the games are rigged.

It's almost like people will find something to complain about, no matter what.

Fans like flags when it against their opponents

Amazingly, Jack could have been flagged for the unnecessary contact after the flagrantly unnecessary tackle.

I agree. I saw at least five blatant fouls that were not flagged so that’s one thing. To be fair I saw maybe three that could have been called on the pats.
