ESPN hitpiece on Patriots (Rift with Brady/Belichick/Kraft) - Merged

Made the mistake of tuning in to ESPN while channel surfing yesterday. There was a group of commentators discussing the Wickersham story. Going in, their overriding assumption was that the story is a true and accurate snapshot of life in the Patriots' world. As for the statements made by Kraft, BB and TB12, while they didn't actually use the "L" word, they said everything said by them is untrue. The only positive note for the Patriots was their ability to put all these distractions behind them and continue toward their goal.

Typical...

Volin tweeted about it. He had it confirmed from Goodell's minions that no meeting took place.

ESPN then changed the wording on WickerSHAM's original story to eliminate the description of the timing of the meeting so that even if they met last year it couldn't be held up as a lie, based upon the story as it is now posted.

That is the level of sleaze we are dealing with at ESPN.

It should have been picked up by bigger fish than Volin, who seems to discount it as being important.

NFL's Joe Lockhart says Roger Goodell did not meet with Belichick in the past week, as was written in ESPN Mag. Lockhart says there was a meeting maybe this past offseason. "That happened last year, not within the past week."

Yea those SOBs updated the article to now say...

He has even become good friends with Goodell. The two men had a long and private meeting, which two sources told ESPN occurred during the off week after the regular season, when the commissioner visited Foxborough. The NFL says the meeting happened last year, not within the past week.

BB said the only time he talked to fraudger was before the game in Mexico city and they briefly exchanged pleasantries.

Sham is an idiot.

I think many of the local media are pissed that they didn't write something like this, cause they had most of this "info" for awhile now. they are kicking themselves in the ass for not being more ruthless . Bedard was spouting more of the same .

The article was crap. What do you think would have happened to the team and player relationships with a local writer who wrote that garbage?

Wickersham doubled down, insisting that it was this year. If there were still reporters worth the title, this would already have been dealt with.

Interesting theory floated today on DHK, they suggested that Belichick fed the false story about meeting with Goodell to a staffer to see if they would leak it to Wickersham.

Problem is them changing the article doesnt recall what everyone else read initially .Its useless.

I'll be interested to see if Wickersham writes more Patriots features in the near future - especially if they make it to the Superbowl - and how heavily those pieces rely on sources. The alternative would be a more fluff-like piece - BB's clothing, quotes from Tom Brady Sr., etc.

This story just won't quit, it give all these fiction writers something to fill the dead space in their column/radio show/television show. It gives them permission to add or subtract whatever they feel like to a fiction story, call it reality and spew it for the masses to stew on. The noise on 98.5 is nauseating, the column bile of Buckley and Borges is just sad, luckily I don't read the globe so I am spared their banality, and BSPN is a known joke so who gives a crap.

Parcels admitted to doing that, wouldn't surprise me if BB did it.

That is some Tyrion Game of Thrones **** right there.

Doochbag, Spazerotti and Andy Capp debated over how many draft picks they'd trade for BB.

Morons

I've been around since before the AFL started and I have trouble remembering a story that has been squeezed beyond every last drop like this one. It's nauseating.

Really you can't think single one?

Parcels admitted to doing that, wouldn't surprise me if BB did it.

They actually started that part of the discussion by noting that it was a tactic that Parcells used to use, and then pointed out that the Patriots knew that there were people on the staff that had been talking to Wickersham over the past year or so and that it would make sense that Belichick fed them completely false information that could be easily rebutted to figure out who it was.

Lmao, claiming they stand by their story as the serially rewrite it, ESPN is a total sleazeball organization.
