You realize that group includes Bill Belichick, so be carefully what you wish for.

ha ha ha ha Ouch!! Spot on!

The Lollipop Guild doesn't quite get the fact that the ESPN story was a hit piece on Tom Brady/Alex Guerrero and FOB (Friends of Bill) are behind it.

When have we ever seen this type of behind the scenes look coming from Gillette??

Uh NEVER!!

This may motivate Brady (it has no doubt pissed him off, Brady is getting killed nationally for being a diva, selfish, loony etc) but any notion that this story is a team wide rallying cry in total nonsense.

This isn't us against the world. This is a clash within the building.

Would love to know what all (not just the cool kids who hang at TB12)
the players really think about all this.

Any notion that Brady and Belichick will patch things up is folly.

They will coexist but that is all.

Brady knows much of this story is true, how it makes him look and how it's playing across the land. He also knows the people who did the talking are still in the building or around the team in some way.

Not good!!!!!

My biggest issue with the non stop chatter is the lack of discussion on trading Brady. Most in the media just act like they should have kept both. If they kept Jimmy G and franchised him for 2018 with the intent to keep him moving forward then that 100% would be a signal to Brady that 2018 would be his last year with the team. What would that do to the locker room? Brady has stated he wants to play for 5 more years but it would be reasonable to ask him to play out a lame duck season with a horrible cap situation?

If you want to argue that you think Brady is declining and that Jimmy G will be just as good if not better as soon as next year or 2019 then make that argument. It is not implausible. I personally expect Brady to play at a high level for at least 3 more years and feel his skills give the team a much better chance to lift the trophy than any other player in the league. I could be wrong but that is how I feel. The difference between the GOAT and a top 5 QB is still huge in my book - I do not see anyone else winning that Ravens game in 2014, leading that incredible TD drive against Denver in 2015 or the crazy SB comeback last year. There are many QB's that can do it in Sept - Dec - I need them to do it in January/February when the weather is nasty and the pressure is the highest and have yet to see anyone else do it like Tom Brady.

How do you know freinds of B.B. are behind the story?

This sounds like the Felger theory.

I hated seeing Garoppolo leave because A) I liked him, and B) I don't think Brady has 3 or 4 years left. But I wouldn't buy into all the conspiracy theories if I were you.

That's quite the conspiracy theory you got there.

BB collaborates with Wickersham to destroy Tom's credibility.

Got it.

Troll.

for those that wanted to keep jimmy g..do you really think the pats were just so likely to find a Brady replacement......or maybe the "system" is a large part of the equation. If it is the system, then the Pats just need to draft Brady's replacement in the next few drafts...again

Briefly tuned in Sports Talk radio and was listening to Bertram practically orgasming about this article, suspect the same happened with Felger in the PM..

What I do not understand is the role of sports talk media.. are they hoping that this rift will provide more fodder for the talk shows?? It almost sounds as though they are rooting for the demise of the New England Patriots so they can say I told you so..

Perhaps my view of Sports Talk Media has become antiquated, but what they all seem to miss that in any organization there will be ups and downs, agreements and disagreements... It always seemed that any organization that has a bunch of yes men seems to make the worse decisions and the best decisions came out of conflict....

Really disappointed in the Pavlovian response of Sports Talk radio, they are morphing into a product that I like less and less.

Sports radio absolutely wants this to be true and they will drive this forward in this region right through the Super Bowl. Idiots will believe haters like Minihane and regurgitate his nonsense as though it is credible, when in truth he hates sports and openly admits he loves starting and stirring controversy. It fattens his wallet and that’s all he cares about.

Wickersham's "foundation" for his claim about a BB-Kraft rift is his claim that BB wanted to trade Brady and keep JG but Kraft "ordered" BB to keep Brady and trade JG.

Miguel tweeted something yesterday that destroys that argument (I think), and I haven't seen it mentioned yet in this thread.

If Brady had been traded before June 1st, the remaining $14M of his most recent signing bonus would have accelerated into 2017 and become new dead money against 2017 cap space. If the trade had happened after June 1st, $7M of that would have become dead money against the 2017 cap, and the other $7M against the 2018 cap. That would've been okay WRT the 2018 cap, since it would've resulted in a net $8M in cap savings. The problem is with the 2017 cap.

The Pats haven't had anywhere near enough cap space to absorb even an additional $7M cap hit since well before the trade deadline, and they have less than $3M left in 2017 cap space now as it is. It appears to me that they simply couldn't have traded Brady and stayed under the cap in 2017. So, perhaps there was some disagreement between BB and Kraft over which QB to keep, but the cap situation may have rendered any such disagreement moot.

If I'm wrong about this, I'm hoping that Miguel will chime in and correct me.

Actually we have been citing the cap implications of moving Brady for the last two years, using Miguel as the factual basis, but the Garrapolites have just ignored it, just as they have ignored all facts and statistics related to this situation.

I want 1, 2, 3 or all 4 things in this order.

1. The team to win more Super Bowls
2. BB to stay and run the show
3. Tom to stay and retire here.
4. The next Brady to be drafted .

Love TB12 but sorry, as long as they are a legit title contender who is under center is irrelevent to me.

Going 4-12 just so Tom can finish his career here isn't appealing to me at all.

I didn’t realize that. I don’t want him going anywhere but I would argue to the bitter end on Brady staying here with the pats. I know all the standard arguments, I’ve heard them all. That said, my feeling remains even if it means they go .500 for two or theee years after Brady. That’s a price I’m ok with, a thing I’m really not ok with is seeing the goat in a Jete uniform. To me that outcome is even more horrible than a North Korean scud attack. The guys given me a ton of good memories and I don’t want a bad one like that. I’m a realist though and understand that it will be whatever.
You would seriously endure a handful if second division seasons just to see Tom retire as a Patriot?

You are a helluva lot more loyal than I am

When people say Wickersham had 14 sources for the article inside the Patriots, realize that there were many anecdotes in the article. He could have talked to 13 people about deflategate, and only one person (a disgruntled trainer?) about all the other crap.

So don't buy this "numerous" sources stuff. That could mean anything.

Those that preferred keeping Jimmy G over Brady want the security of being "good" for the next 10 years at the expense of being "great" for the next 3 or 4 years.

I prefer they chase the big prize in the short term and try to find/develop a successor in the draft this year or next.

We don't even know if Garoppolo is going to be that good. He may very well be.But he has shown a propensity for throwing picks, and he is very slight of stature. You don't even know if Garoppolo can withstand the kind of hits that Brady has taken, especially this year.
