Game Day Thread: Titans/Chiefs and Falcons/Rams

I like Tennessee esp with the points.

They should be able to run on KC. Very physical no nonsense Oline and a pissed off Henry.

A loss wouldn't be bad for Mariota fans who echo Walkers comments "Sometimes you need to overcome coaching".

Speaks volumes but I like Tennessee here.

If the Pats make it, I'd rather them not have to play the home town team in the Super Bowl. That puts extra pressure on the Vikes though, in the early rounds of the playoffs.
I wonder how much hfa there would be though. The fans will be neutral.
I think we would have the advantage indoors against Minnesota with our passing game.

As much as I'd like to see the Chiefs lose, I don't think it's going to happen.

In the other game, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Falcons win...I think the Rams are building something real good but I think their a year away.

I watched second half of Titans-Jaguars, Titans looked really bad on the offense against disinterested opponent. They will need monster run game in order to do something, at this point Mariota seems like an outright liability and his receivers are not that good in the first place. It is KC game to lose.

Falcons over Rams, I guess. Falcons kept their SB roster while the Rams have young coach and QB in their playoffs debut. They are good, no doubt about that, but I think ultimately Goff will slip up and make a costly mistake.

Both of these games are tough picks for me.
Neither Home tram impresses me much. The chiefs only recovered from a 1-6 run by playing a weak schedule. The rams, especially on d feasted on bad teams
But then you ask does tenn have any player in the squad that makes you think they could win a post season game, much less in the road??
And the falcons just haven’t put it together. Just when it looked like they were getting there **** together on offense they score 88 points in the last 5 weeks.

I’ll go with experience and pick Kc and Atlanta but catch me in an hour and I might pick the exact opposite. Lesser of evils picking here

Its crazy how if the Falcons get past the rams, they go to Philadelphia to face a backup qb and probably should be favored to get to the nfcc. Would be highly impressive for a sb loser let alone welll.... u know

I am more excited to see the Falcons/Rams game because I think either team could win. I'm going to go with the Rams though because Gurley has ran wild all year and the Rams D will be all over Matt RYan.

It is fascinating to me that all the attention are on the team not playing this weekend. I will be pissed off at Seth 'Wickedsham' for his timing. He could have dropped this at a time after the playoffs. Even the game on ESPN is not getting any made up hype. Everyone wants to talk the Patriots.

Titans- Andy will run Hunt 12 times.
Rams- falcons shouldn't even be in the playoffs.
Bonus pick- Bills, Jax doesn't even know this is a playoff game.

the NFC games are definitely going to be much better than the AFC games IMO. jags defense should destroy the bills unless bortles, well bortles himself..

chiefs should win against the titans. but it depends which alex smith shows up. is it first 5 games alex smith or mid season alex smith? or something in between?

saints/carolina is a tossup as is falcons/rams.

Let me do 1 match up at a time.

Falcons @ Rams - The Falcons looked good last week for the first time in a while. I blame in it Carolina's offense. It has an ability to run hot and cold. I won't be a prisoner last weeks showing to predict this week.

When I look at it is becomes hard to find much the Falcons can do to beat the Rams. Falcons pass offense vs rams pass defense? Rams win. Falcons run offense vs rams run defense? Falcons win. Rams pass offense vs Falcons pass defense? Rams win. Falcons run defense vs Rams run offense? Rams win.

So the Falcons can run on the Rams poor run D. Everything else is to the Rams advantage. We all know ability to run semi-successfully isn't worth much. It needs to be a big win to matter. Maybe the Falcons can win big on the ground. Enough to make a difference? Probably not but if they get 160 yards and eat up a bunch of clock maybe.

Matt Ryan had the best year of his career last year and is back to the Matt Ryan we all knew. His playoff success outside last years run is non-existent. 1-4 with 9 TDs and 7 Ints. If that Matt Ryan shows up which is the same one who has shown up nearly all year they lose this one going away. If the Matt Ryan of last year shows up they have a shot but his players are not as electric around him on offense this year either. Hucking it up to Jones all day won't save them either.

On defense the Falcons has some good pieces but it really only works like they want when they get pressure up the middle like Garrett did on Brady in the SB and Cam last week. The Rams have a very good center in Sullivan (he was the Vikings center who helper Peterson his 2000 yards). He got injured and so was released but is back now and playing really well. I don't think he gets blown out up the middle which will make the Falcons D pretty easy pickings for the Rams.

Gurley will run well but like usual he'll be the most dangerous catching the ball and potentially breaking a huge play. If the Falcons were smart they would say "okay beat me if you can but I won't let Gurley do it." They aren't that smart to truly understand that.

Gurley will be all over the field and the Rams will spread the ball around. Some to Woods some to Kupp then some more to whoever. They don't have a true #1 WR option. In the end they will score 30 or so and let their D do the rest.

The Falcons will run well but it won't be enough to keep up. They will need to pass and when they D here comes Aaron Donald and other very good DL players to force Ryan into the mistakes he is prone to making. Lots of key sacks and turnovers.

Rams 31 Falcons 20

I just like the titans in an upset...

Titans-Chiefs: This isn't scientific (I only do that for the Pats), but I'm taking the Chiefs in a very close one. I like Henry's chances to do some good things, but Mariota won't be able to make those 4-5 throws he needs to make to put them over the top.

Falcons-Rams: This is going to be a lot closer than people think as well. The Rams beat up on a lot of teams using their offensive speed on the second level. The Falcons are built to thwart that, but Ryan has been off. Factor in the potential for Gurley to play well enough to keep the Falcons on the sideline and I'm taking the Rams in a tight one.

Kansas City has the big play guys, so I pick em. And I suspect it won't be that close a game. (will root for Titans)

With Atlanta, you NEVER KNOW. This is a pick em game. I'll go with... ... ... ... ... (time's up) Rams.

Alex Smith has had some of his worst games against Tennessee. He's 1/3 in his career. Comp % of 56.46. 58.7 Passer rating & 3 TD/8 INT.

2-4 playoff record & 0-1 @ KC.

how many times has Alex Smith played the Titans IN KC in THAT stadium with THOSE fans making hearing impossible?

listen to the old dog...KC all day

Falcons go as Matty Iced goes - and without his old OC he looks to be shadow of his 2016 incarnation

If you ever wanted an example of how coaching influences the NFL outside of BB and the Pats - that example right there is an excellent one because Matt Ryan is a pretty pedestrian QB.

Wow, BGC. Bold pick right here. Jeez.

I’m so in on KC that I’m considering throwing some loot in my sports book account for the first time in many months. Thinking about getting the line down a bit, though. Either buying points or teasing. Not crazy about the -8.5. Much more comfortable at something around -7. That said, I could envision this game being over after 2, 2.5 quarters. I think the Titans suck.

If McCoy plays, I think the game could be closer than people think. I don’t think it’s going to be the blowout that most expect. Not sure if the Bills have the capacity to pull off the upset, but if there were an “upset special” of the week, I’d probably go with this.

Can’t wrap my head around what you guys are seeing with the Titans going into KC and winning, though.
