Aaron Rodgers on IR - Teams complain

Couldn't they say he suffered a paper cut or bruise or whatever and that would make him unlikely to have played against the vikes.

That gives him a new injury.

Not retroactively.

They could. If the player disputes it though, then there's a problem.

This rule really isn't for the Aaron Rodgers of the world. He could complain, GB be forced to cut/waive him, and Rodgers winds up signing a mega deal with a new team. This rule is for your day game scrub - your Jordan Richards of the world, who no one would likely even sniff if he was a free agent. Is that player going to speak up or complain? A team can strong arm a player like that.

That's why the league is supposed to overlook things like this; I bet it's mandated by the CBA although I'd need to read it to confirm. Instead we have the league setting up sting operations in the AFC title game without knowing a damn thing about basic science, or "measuring" air pressure the following season to ensure no "violations." And continually giving strongly worded letters to Seattle for continually violating the CBA with regards to practices and injuries for the last 5 years. It's just a clown show.

I dont think they even can do this. The team doesn't just say a player is IR'd and done deal. It is a process with paperwork that goes through the league and actually has to be allowed and confirmed by the league.

It would be hilarious if the league makes GB release Rodgers...

Wouldn’t he hit waivers?

And then be claimed by the Cleveland Browns . Contract runs through the 2019 season.

Although Rodgers to Josh Gordon could be interesting

This is what is really ruining football, crybaby ***** owners, GM’s, coaches, and especially their crybaby ***** fans.
Great post. There is no sport populated by more spoiled, cry baby, sore losers than the NFL. From owners to front office people to coaches to players and on and on and on. It's a f###### epidemic with no cure.

Even if true, it seems like a meaningless technicality for a team that already resigned itself to calling the season over. That spot that opened up at the bottom of their roster isn't going to affect much for anything. I hope the NFL does little to nothing.

I'd rather disciplinary actions to be reserved for real issues (you know, like insignificant equipment violations)

League: "Those friggin Patriots always looking to skirt the rules, this time we got them! Throw the book at them"!!!
Reporter: "It was Green Bay"

League: Ours too

Worth pointing out - for how often we hear about “Foxboro Flu” with the accusation that the Pats mysteriously come up with injuries to stash end-of-roster players - this is kind of exactly that but at a much higher level.

Foxboro Flu also doesn't exist, it's made up by fans.

Funny how the league deferred question to GB. They are not interested in investigating this.

Just another of the daily examples of why this league is a f**king joke. I can just imagine how that might go over in say a court room - "Prosecutor tell me why this man is guilty" - Judge

"Uhhh, you're honour I don't have anything to say on that, but you should just ask the accused, I'm sure he'll tell you everything you need to know" - Prosecutor.

I thought that post was like a 3 / 10 to be honest.
