I keep hearing around how the Steelers have such a great fanbase. They're passionate, sure, but as a collective, they're not very bright and pretty petty and spiteful. None of that shouts out "great fanbase" to me. It sounds a lot like the Jest fanbase, except they cheer for a team that has had success, albeit mostly when the Soviet Union was still around.
Btw, I was around a bunch of Steeler fans this weekend, and successfully navigated the discussion from "the (non)catch" to how Tomlin and Haley ****ed up the playcalling. By the end of the discussion, they weren't even talking about the catch, which is how it should be. One guy kept saying "yeah, Pats suck" and I finally said, "yeah, but we won", which stopped all that.
