Official Post Game Thread- Pats with a crazy win against Pitt

BTW, there should never be a defensive call where Trey Flowers is covering Bell in pass coverage. That drove me nuts.

I mentioned this in the Game Day Thread. Both times it happened, Bell got big yards. I love Trey Flowers, but he's not Willie McGinest.. He doesn't have the ability to chuck the RB at the line and stay with him..

5 of 6 on the road has happened 3 other times since the 2002 realignment. It obviously can be avoided if schedule makers want.

Regards,
Chris

And the Pats won 5 of those six, including 4 of 5 on the road.

OTOH, Reiss (I think) opined a couple weeks back that this quirk in the Pats schedule may have been the unavoidable result of BB's (reported) request to have the Denver and Mexico City games scheduled back-to-back in order to avoid making two trips.

Sreelers fans are convinced they'll win the rematch. That a team who "needed the refs and no A.Bto win by three"...is going to get it handed to them next time.
i thought you would agree with them too, no ? you claimed 35-17 steelers before this game happened so..

Until JuJu's 69-yard breakout catch-and-run, the Steelers had gained a total of 32 yards on 13 plays using almost 9 minutes of clock time in Q4.

I think after the 1st half it was pretty clear they were trying to limit the amount of possessions the pats got on offense. 3 possessions in the 1st half only.(Not counting kneel down) I don't remember how many we had in the 2nd half, maybe 3 or 4?

That's one of the reasons I couldn't help but laugh at people who were saying that Brady didn't do much. Pittsburgh played almost as flawless a game as they could have, right up until the last two minutes or so. They kept Brady on the sidelines by working the Patriots defense over. They made Brady think by pressing the receivers. They got pressure on Brady with just a minimum of pass rushers.

In the end, it still wasn't enough, but it might have been, if Brown hadn't gotten injured, or if James had just held on to the ball.

or if brown didn't drop an easy td

Five in the second half, not including kneel-down:

TD
Interception
Punt
FG
TD

For the game, the Pats had 8 possessions and scored on five of them (two of three in the first half).

Steelers had four possessions in the first half and scored on three of them. They had five possessions in the second half and scored once.

No Brady interception and the game might not have been close at the end.

That's exactly what they were doing. And, as long as the defense continues to be unable to get off the field on third down at a rate even approaching acceptable by playoff caliber standards, that will be the team's undoing in the postseason. You take much needed possessions out of Brady's hands when you can't get him on the field. Luckily, they have two key contributors coming back in KVN and Branch and another, Flowers, that will hopefully continue to round back into form.

By the way, it was mentioned on Gameday Prime that 10 of Harmon's 13 INTs have come in the 4th qtr.
