The rapist cries foul that his buddy JuJu got the same punishment as Gronk....

Big Ben: JuJu Smith-Schuster's suspension not fair

And to that I say....

It was a bad hit, but I didn’t think it warranted a suspension either. And this is even looking through Steelers Disdain glasses.

It's almost like the league looked at the recent history between the Steelers and Bengals and decided they needed to send a message to these guys to cut it out.

That can't be it, though. I'm sure Ben's right and the league is just unfairly targeting the Steelers, like they always do.

And they say Brady whines... both penalized players had bad intent and both deserve a game. Each was worse in their own way imo and of course you could debate all day which was overall worse and was it worse enough to warrant a greater suspension ... but to actually go and publicly complain about his penalty vs gronk’s just shows the difference in our organizations right now. He plays for Mike Tomlin so I’m not shocked he’d cry about that part of it.

Michael Floyd

Juju lined him up and launched himself (shoulder and side of his helmet) into the face mask of Burfict. His immediate celebration pretty clearly indicates that he saw it coming, knew who it was, and delighted in lighting him up. It was premeditated and not at all a spontaneous act, though it was a football play.

Gronk's hit was equally vicious and was certainly later in the play, when he should have known not to do anything. It was arguably not even a football play. But it was also appeared to be his spontaneous reaction, out of frustration. He was certainly in the wrong and deserves a game. Juju was in the wrong for slightly different reasons (he went headhunting) and he also deserves a game.

At that time there was no point of emphasis to eliminate head contact on blindside blocks. Floyd would have been flagged this season for his hit, if there was contact to the head. I'd have to see the Floyd hit to see it there was head contact.

... happened before certain new rule changes that redefined what a "defenseless player" was.

Interesting. Had no idea the rule changed. My instinct is always to assume the punishments are completely arbitrary.

Unfortunately there was helmet-to-helmet contact but its clear as day the shoulder was led first. Not sure if Floyd would be fined or suspended.

I personally had no issue with JuJu's hit but the league modified the rule. He made contact with the helmet and it is what it is.

I do wonder if it would have only been a fine if he had not taunted. IMO that sealed his fate.

Ben does have an argument but I think a 2 game suspension for a 1st time offender like Gronk would have been excessive IMO but im a homer:p

Nothing like Floyd. Floyd never launched, went in headfirst or targeted the defender's head. Hell it's debatable if Floyd and the defender's helmets even touched and if they did it was incidental.

He also didn't stand over him for 20 seconds flexing like a tough guy
