Yeh sure looks like it to me but regardless the guy got up with a bloody nose, has a concussion....2-3 games, to me its worse than a Suh stomp...looked like WWE

He didn't use his forearm. It was tucked to his left side. It doesn't change the hit though.

As far as the punishment goes I hope it's consistent. 2 or 3 games isn't.

I love Gronk but unless you are a total homer, incapable of objectivity, you have to agree that a suspension is warranted. 1 game and a $100,000 fine is what I’d impose. BUT I also would have suspended Alonso, and would have suspended both Talib and Crabtree for 3 each so who knows.

agreed to this part - alonso should have gotten multiple games for that hit.....first offense or not, that was at least 3 games.....Talib should have gotten 3 based on history, and crabtree's game was about right, actually.....Talib came after him and ripped his chain off (again), his reaction was poor, but Talib instigated that incident and should have gotten more

but the point is, that is NOT what the league did.....and based on this recent history, you're going to have a hard time convincing me that anything other than one game appealed down to a fine is in line with what they've been handing out

that's not homer, that's asking for consistency.......

as a stand alone i'd be ok with a game, based on the NFL's overall reliance on suspensions (which i think is over used).......but when looking at how they handle things, even one game is more than they hand out for comparable (or worse) on and off the field transgressions

There is a big push by the media to punish Gronk with a suspension, as if you couldn't find similar incidents in every game played.
So I am hope for a fine, but expect a suspension. And since it is to Pats and losing Gronk will effect the Pats playoffs I suspect it will be 2 games. Two games after the appeal that is, so maybe 3 before the appeal!
The league needs a new champ and they really would like the ego bound Squealers to rule the AFC.

if there's a suspension, they'll use evans to justify and it will be one game.....3 before the appeal would be ludicrous

You won't, because that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with whether or why Gronkowski was suspended. He had no right to hit White like that regardless of what White did to him or what the Refs did or did not call. It feels emotionally like it should be a balancing factor but it absolutely is not. There is no mitigation here.

Gronkowski hit a player unnecessarily, multiple seconds after the whistle, while said player was down and defenseless, and in the process made contact with the head and put that player in concussion protocol. The refs did not make him do that, he did it all by himself on his own responsibility and he has to take ownership of that.

It was an absolutely unnecessary move by Gronk exacerbated by putting the player in concussion protocol. The league will come down hard on him for this and they will be 100% right to do so. You do NOT hit a defenseless player after the whistle under any circumstances, and you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HIT HIM IN THE HEAD!

"Gronkowski hit a player unnecessarily, multiple seconds after the whistle..."

By the way, has it definitively been established that it was after the whistle?

I voted one game. There is a positive that can come out of this.
The focus on Gronk may force officials to make calls fairly
against him.

Yup. I think there's a reason Brady is speaking up about that today too.

Seems like a just small price to pay for that benefit.

I couldn't tell but I read it was not a post whistle hit. I think that could be beneficial for avoiding a league suspension.

I am sorry but no way. I think it's one game and a fine. We will see it. At least gronk felt bad about it after the game. I think he snapped because of the way he's treated by the refs.

I hope it is one game, but dam man it looks bad...really bad...wwe setup....his thoughts and frustration about the refs will not matter one bit.

I don't excuse what Gronk did at all. He deserves the same punishment as others who have also taken similar cheap shots. That would be AT MOST a one game suspension. There is no precedent, whatsoever, for a multiple game suspension for such a hit, however. Give him a game and move on. Somehow, though, I bet Roger decides to "send a message" and surpasses all precedent and ignores the fact that Gronk has no prior history extending to anywhere near this level of cheap shot delivery. I hope I am wrong. I can live with one game.

He'll get a game, and he deserves it. As someone noted, the NFL needs to do it to keep pretending they care about traumatic brain injuries, but in any case he should get it because he took a cheap shot at someone's head and gave them a traumatic brain injury.

Bills fans are right to want blood. Gronk intentionally concussed their first round rookie after the play was over. We'd all be screaming bloody murder if they had gotten away with the reverse.

Agree with all of this.

I'll go further and say that Gronk should be held to higher standard, he's a superstar and a Patriot. Meaning his punishment should be harsh. He's one of the faces of the league.

this treating of some players and teams differently than others is exactly what gives the NFL credibility problems

Thank-you.

Look, I am not trying to be a jerk or excuse what he did but, when I was watching it initially I didn't hear a whistle and I thought Gronk playing to the whistle and near the sideline, gave an unnecessary and way over the top hit on the Buffalo player.

Being the Pats, nothing would surprise me, even more than 2 games . The price they pay for being so good so long. I have become a bit numb to anything they do to the Pats .
Oh yea, Pats beat the Bills by 20 !

It wasn't after the whistle. The whistle was blown after Gronk dove into the player.

i don't think there was a whistle, but another player touched his back and he was laying on the sideline.....that being said, not sure gronk even noticed any of that, lol, he was foaming at that point, when he turned and found no flag

Putting myself in the shoes of the NFL, since they react to the court of public opinion more than actual fact, I expect Gronk to be suspended for life and forced to clean toilets.

Without a whistle the play is not over, so Gronk gets up, doesn't hear a whistle what else would you expect him to to do?

honestly, while it was dumb, i can see this being reality

gronk get up

gronk see no flag....gronk get angry

gronk see offending player on ground with ball

gronk must tackle bad player

(not sure gronk would use the word offending, but.....)

he had malicious intent, considering the stuff going with concussions, you wonder if he is parked the rest of the season for malice? anything other than 2 games without an appeal sets an awfully low precedent for TBI's.... not as a bills fan cause the bills are irrelevant, just my opinion given the context of the league and concussions, you could've only done one thing worse and had gronk do that to taylor, giving a QB a concussion on purpose.
