Bill Belichick seems to like Tony Romo with CBS

"Tony sees a lot of things – a lot of fine points of a defensive scheme or a play that, I’d say, a lot of guys that I talk to don’t – and asks about those and, ‘What was this guy reading on this and why did this guy do that and was this guy’s job on this play to do something that is kind of subtle?’ He picks up on those things and, I’d say, asks a lot of very detailed, coaching, technical-type questions that you don’t get in a lot of those meetings.... he’s good. I’ve enjoyed working with him."

My son and I really enjoy Romo... but Belichick saying something nice about a media guy... yikes... it's like the apocalypse is nigh... :)

Thats big time props from BB. I don't think he'd throw him under the bus publicly regardless but its clear Romo does his homework and BB respects that.

I wonder what BB thinks about Fouts? LOL

I like him so far. Last week he started saying he wanted football stats and how nice it would be to have a person that did that, obviously taking a dig at their stats guy. That was a bit awkward.

I like Romo too, but he needs to learn when to stop talking before the ball is snapped. I've caught him still trying to guess the next play as it's being run, without giving Nantz a chance to set down & distance and other pre-snap calls.

You can’t tell what the down and distance is without Nantz? There’s a reason why he takes a step back, shuts up, and lets Romo go.

Even certain moments when you want to hear what the players or refs are saying, Romo is still talking. He's good, he's funny, he has great insight and stories. We just need like 65-70% of the current speech rate. JMO

Romo is so far above the football media hacks it's not even close. He has a PhD in football while the rest are in pre-kindergarten.

It makes you realize that he was doubtless a far more cerebral QB than he was given credit for. When he was playing, he was stereotyped as a lazy knucklehead who'd rather be on the beach than in the film room.

(FWIW I just went back and read a pre-draft profile of Romo that was all about his quick thinking, rapid progression reads, and strong communication and leadership skills.)

You keep Fouts and I will keep Romo.

He said nice things about simms too in that interview.

Simms said brady "must have known the balls were deflated" because as a qb "the football is your life" and thus "you would know if it's even .1 psi off." He is a fool and should be tarred and feathered.

I just can't understand how stupid people can be when I hear people say that. The people on BSPN all had an agenda. But I wouldn't think a color analyst would? The reason Brady didn't notice a difference is because that's how the balls always felt in below freezing weather. Ergo, natural deflation!!!!! God I can't understand how stupid people can be.

Just reading this makes me think BB is in a great mood. Friday's Bill's Sessions are always informative and gives you sort of a taste of what's in BB's head. I love Bill's left footed punter obsession. :p

As far as Romo,

I didn't think I'd like him... Cowboys QB who could never seem to get the job done when it counted. But, I really like his commentary, mostly BEFORE the play runs. Most times he's dead on with what's about to happen. I like hearing the strategy before things unfold. As to after the play, I think all color guys can that sort of thing....but most don't because they want to be "stars" and household names.

Comparing Tony Romo as an analyst to Phil Simms would be like comparing Bill's game plan preparation to Chris Foerster's.

We still haven’t quite figured out why he’s got chunks of stuff falling out of his nose or why those lines have big rocks in them. I’m no expert on cocaine, having only done it several times in my life when I was much younger, but that either has to be a crushed up pill or the worst low grade coke that money can buy.

Boy, I’d love to have some clarity on the situation. These are the types of things that keep me up at night.

I agree about BB and enjoy seeing some laid back end of week pressers (at times). As far as Romo goes, I believe some of his reputation is true while some isn’t. For instance, I’m pretty sure that he had some of the highest QB ratings for anyone in the month of December, when the season was in crunch time. Unfortunately for him, that didn’t carry over to the postseason, and I don’t believe that he had the strongest teams around him during those stretches, either.

As a whole, I think Romo was a better QB than many give him credit for.

You sure this isn’t Mrs. Supafly (the Cowboys fan if I’m not mistaken?) posting? :p

I agree though, Romo blew it a few times but the defense and line was more to blame. He should have protected himself falling better too, Brady and Peyton do/did a great job not getting hurt, Rodgers put himself in a bad position way he spread himself out on that Vikings hit. Wish Romo hadn’t been hurt so many times.

The purest cocaine arrives from South or Central America. It arrives in brick forms to destinations all over the world with a good percentage coming in through Miami. The initial arrival is likely sold in the same form as it was when it left South or Central America to 1 or 2 buyers. Those buyers usually cut immediately before selling in smaller but still large quantities. Every time its sold it gets cut more and becomes less pure. Coach crunchy nose probably had a connection where it was only cut once, maybe twice. And in that situation the rocks falling out of his nose were part of the brick that wasn't cut. Allegedly ... :D
