BGC 2018 NFL DRAFT/PATRIOT-TYPE THREAD

I could see him playing weakside on both fronts. Dude is a problem and more than a handful. He rushes inside or outside. Can burst & bend. Can swim & knife through the inside. +Hands and motor. Went into his background in this thread. Hes a good one.

I love Saquon Barkley but there is no chance he falls to where the Pats would take a RB unless he gets hurt

Gunna start QB, RUSH (etc) threads tonight.

Starting with Baker, Kincade, Jackson, Mata'afa and Ejiofor.

I'll do a background, strengths, weaknesses and outlook post (basically eval/rough eval) and then a Traits That Translate post with specific plays, gifs etc that show off said players traits.

Washington plays at Stanford tonight at 10:30 on FS1. Get a good look
at Vea against a good running team.

Why not?

Brady to Tate.

I'm irrationally in love with Tate's game. I'd love to see him here.

Another bigger guy with great hands who has been on my radar lately is Juwan Johnson from Penn State. I don't know if he declares this year, but he reminds me a ton of a Dez Bryant or Alshon Jeffrey type. I'd compare him to TO, but I don't think he has that kind of speed. Still, his hands, routes, toughness after the run, etc, is a joy to watch. He would be the perfect compliment to Cooks, imo.

Man I couldn't agree more with the Tate love. Was my #1 heading into the year. I know he hasn' been and prob won't be the #1 taken but I absolutely love his game.

Freakish size and catch radius. Strong, natural hands. Body control. And he's a willing blocker. I love him.
Immediately contributes on Back Shoulders/Outside the #'s, Crossers and RZ.

Has that Marshall, Jeffrey type game.

Agreed on J.J. ! I gotta dig in on him.

The hands, the body control, awareness of down/distance, work on scramble drills, etc, are all very solid. He's a big body who plays big but still has good quickness. I'm pretty impressed, overall.

A few of Johnson's recent games this year:

Juwan Johnson Rutgers Game Highlights || 11/11/17

Look at that run after the catch in the first clip. He's a big boy, but he can make people miss. Clean, efficient routes. Natural hands catcher. About a minute in to the Nebraska game, he has a beautiful one handed catch--it looks effortless.

He had a solid game against Joshua Jackson, too, in the Iowa clip. Look at the awareness on the scramble at 1:53. Seems to play smart.

Akron: Look at the adjustment on the catch at 23 seconds (replay at 35 seconds). I LOVE the toughness he shows in the play starting at 1:06 seconds. Hit by two defenders, but he hangs on for the catch and then signals for a first down. He doesn't seem like a diva. Not afraid of the dirty work across the middle.

Look at the play starting at 36 seconds in the Indiana game. Excellent hands catch, and he gets way up there to grab the ball. The replay shows how well he elevates, and his concentration to secure the ball through contact. That's something that shows up repeatedly in his games.

He shows some fire to his play in the Rutgers game. Doesn't shy away from contact at all, and jaws with the opposing players a bit. He's not a scared player. I'm a fan of physical receivers.

Overall, he looks like a high end #2, with some #1 potential depending on the scheme. I don't think he's the fastest guy (probably a solid 4.5), but he makes good use of his speed. He doesn't have to be a burner to be effective. If he returns to school and puts up good numbers, I could see him challenging for a 1st round selection.

Lots of underrated guys on here that come from poor offenses/QB situations.

Anthony Miller should be a Patriot. Reminds me of a faster, more athletic Jarvis Landry.

James, Sweat and Tate all most likely leaving for the draft. Ridley too.

How do you feel about JT Barret? Obviously hes flashed at times but he has never seemed to figure it all out

Not sure if he'll ever leave OSU?

Honestly not a huge fan. Injuries (torn ACL, ankle, mcl and more), undersized and after getting arrested for DUI thought he could get out of it bc he was OSU QB.

I'd look elsewhere.

Think this is pretty spot on. He does show some intriguing potential, but the red flags are there.

Ohio State does have some top end talent though. Ward is an incredible athlete. Bosa looks like a clone of his brother. Jones is an underrated tackle. Etc.

Ward is so fluid and smooth.

Nick is a monster. Listed at 270 I guess and I think could actually play DE in an attacking style odd front and move everywhere along an even. SD could have both Bosas.

Wilkins making some dough

Devron Davis from UTSA. Teammate of Davenport. 6'+/215. Tough, hard hitting, ballhawk that doesn't quit on a play big or small.
