Incredibly important week for the Patriots

Yes, in the exact words of sports illustrated's lead NFL writer, Dr. Z., on the week that Bledsoe was hurt and Brady took over...

"I don't see that they have the talent with which to win a game"

Dr. Z was also a notorious hack who by that point in his career was running on fumes and ****ty hot takes, and he wrote that in the brief window after Bledsoe was hurt but before Brady established himself as a real QB. He was predictably proven wrong within a week.

Not to mention that by all rights the Patriots should be 2-3. Play that dropped INT before the game-winning TD against Houston over and over 100 times and NE loses that game at least 95 times.

The Pats could easily be anywhere between 1-4 and 5-0. The saints game is the only one that wasn't a play or three from flipping the outcome. I still think we win the chiefs game if Gronk's TD is upheld and we go up 14-0. Would've changed the whole complexion of the game.

Kansas City will choke in the playoffs at arrowhead....just like 95, 97, 03, 16

Hope you're right, but they're still a much tougher team at Arrowhead stadium. I'd prefer to see them on the road, myself.

Just off the top of my head, there were fans who said the same thing about NE choking at Gillette in the postseason in 2009, 2010, and 2012.

Too early to worry about any other teams at this point in the season, but KC has either won or played us within a score 3x in a row. I think they're legit.

Anyone here going? It’s been quite a few years for me. The last game I went to was the year after the new Meadowlands opened I think. I think that was the year before Fireman Ed quit. I only know that because I have a picture of him egging on the green eggs.

But the jets have no talent.

Division games aren't always decided by talent. In addition, the Jets still have an above average DL that can harass Brady rushing four.

Yes, in the game of "measurable" factors the Pats should win. Considering the immeasurable is a much more difficult proposition.

I too am hoping for a "laugher" type game for the Pats to win easily, but how many recent Pats/Jets contests - lopsided rosters and all - have concluded that way?

Last one I remember was the Butt Fumble game.

I guess you missed the 2nd game vs the jets last year.

The Christmas Eve Massacre...the last game I've been to, but one of the best ever.

That post was accurate.
Football is a game of a couple 100 milliseconds and inches.
When your team is so close to the edge in several games, you're not a force.

I am sorry but this is true of any season even 2007. The majority of games are inches away from being won by one or the other team.

Another head scratcher right there. How does any of those years have any significance for this season ? Even the 2016 team was playing a different style of football than what their 2017 version does.

Entirely possible. My memory isn't what it used to be. Doesn't preclude the point of division games being a different animal due to the familiarity.

I had no recollection of the games either, but the Pats won 41-3 last time they played the Jets. At week 16, the game was perfunctory.

The entire jets DL has a total of 0 sacks this year.

Not sure what that is supposed to mean.

I don't really care about how much they won by.
This is the least talented jets team in many years.
I'm not sure how the way other jet teams performed against other patriot teams are supposed to impact this game. That said in the last 6 years we are 10-2 can the jets with 1 loss being the result of a horrendous penalty call and the other being when the patriots were so decimated on the OL by injuries that BB chose to kick off to start OT.
I don't think there are many examples of a team owning a team more that that.

I did not say that. I made the observation that our 3-2 record is achieved by the thinnest of margins.
You said statement saying a case could be made the patriots are a fraud 3-2 team was accurate.
I disagree. I thing the patriots are legitimately a team that should win 60% or more of their games.

A little early in the season to call a game against the lowly Jets a must win.

That said if the Pats lose to the Jets (unlikely) or if they allow the Jets to hang with them and eek out a win, that will speak volumes on the state of the Pats.
If we lose, I agree with you. But even if we just "eke" out a win, that will be ok in my book. The Jets always play us tough, but we usually find a way to win. I will be curious to see if the better game by the D carries over, as well as whether Gronk being a late scratch was the reason our O was pretty pedestrian. I also want to see improvement on Brady getting knocked down. Lots to watch for in this game.
