4.33 speed with Dorsett & Cooks. Will we see the deep ball more often ? One of the many interesting things to look for in 2017....

With speed like that to pin back the safeties, our pass-catching TEs and RBs are gonna have a really fun time exploiting all that space.

Cooks has already shown in New Orleans that he can play the slot. I would not be surprised if Cooks played an Edelman like role in the offense, and Dorsett plays the role of deep WR.

Everyone focuses on Cooks/Hogan/Dorsett's sub 4.4 40 speed. But what could be just as important is all their elite quickness as well

3-cone times:
Cooks 6.76
Dorsett 6.70
Hogan 6.75

McLellin's injury must be a short-term thing, if he didn't get the IR designation. Soon we'll find out what it actually is.

Yeah, I think that's how it's looking.

3 WR/1 TE sets, we'll see Dorsett on the outside, Hogan at flanker and Cooks in the slot.

2 WR/2 TE sets, probably Hogan and Cooks because they can run a wider range of routes, plus we'll have Gronk & Allen to block/run routes. Oh, and an assortment of available RBs too...

I want all hands on deck. I do not want injuries to sabotage this freight train (like, sadly, was the case in 2015).
Agree, I'm not the biggest Shea McLellin fan around, but it would be nice if he were good to go on Thursday (so at the very least you could get David Harris off the field on 3rd down).

Agreed.

Perhaps, the team wants to evaluate his progress (ditt0 Valentine). This only costs a couple of day, and then put him on IR, or not.

I don't really think we'll see much of Dorsett for a few weeks. A little here and there then after the bye week he'll be out there more. Of course health can change everything.

Don't forget about Hogan he could play the role of hybrid receiver very easily.

I agree that cooks in the slot is very possible he looks born for a slot receiver role

In years past multiple threads would appear on this site to debate the fact that the Patriots did not possess a deep threat.

Yes.

And now, we debate whether our #5 WR is good enough, or our #4 safety.

I would agree that Cooks will take over some of the duties in the slot, and that they'll utilize his speed and YAC ability in creative fashion. I don't think it will be on a full time basis, though. It will be interesting to see how he is deployed.

I'm going to stay with tradition and debate whether or not our 3rd OT is actually worth a damn.

I'm not the biggest McClellin fan, either. I actually wondered this spring/early summer if he wouldn't be a possible cap casualty, but he seems to be able to execute multiple responsibilities adequately enough to where I think we'd miss him at the moment.
