2017 NFL Training Camp Cuts, Signings & Trades

KGH has To have more upside than Freeny.
Are the Eagles still dumb enough to trade Kenricks?

He would be a steal. Our LB's too slow. Last spring a 5th would get him.

I still think if you can get over the 2017 Salary, (next two 18,19 are fine) Tavon Austin. Punt returns and slot and 5 years younger than JE and Dolla.

Aaron Donald would be a the best deal in many years, buy what is the cost(2 firsts and a big salary?) I she worth it? Just a tease.

I really hope Detroit cuts Jace Billingsly, I think he'd be perfect for the Pats (if they don't keep Carr). I'm pretty sure he's a punt returner too. Good speed (4.48), shifty and great hands.

I thought that was his problem?.....
@Ross12 binky alert!
Oh man do it Bill

I'm only half serious. It's probably my irrational binky-glasses but I still like the potential and the team needs some help at wideout and returner... seems like an easy solution with a guy who knows the system already.

But, as long as my newer binky Foster for the second year in a row makes the team then I guess I'll survive... I mean technically Harper made it the year before that too so I'm three-for-three yeah?

All over Tavon Austin

If I'm reading Austin's contract details correctly, it looks like his 2017 salary is only $3.5M. The rest of his 2017 cap hit is a roster bonus of $11.5M that the Rams would have to eat. His 2018 salary read as $3.0M, and it goes up to $9.35M in 2019.

I wanted him when he was drafted I remember when he said he watched all Welkers college tapes.
Is their any chance he is available?

Maybe he would fit better under our system who knows.

No. Austin also has a $5M roster bonus in 2018. And when is his 2017 roster bonus due? Even if you wait until the Rams pay it you're looking at $9M a year (after this year) with a lot guaranteed. You can't cut him after this year due to all the guaranteed upcoming salary. This is a non starter.

BB should take about 10 of the Rams cuts, turn them to gold, and laugh all the way to the playoffs.

....and at various points they were both hurt last year.

...then Gronk goes down.

...and they were forced to pick up a drunk.

They need a quality 5th WR that can return punts desperately.
I agree that they would BENEFIT from a WR5 that can return punts. But, do you truly feel the words "need" or "desperately" are well used here ? I think there are (at least) 25 teams that'd say this is a pretty insignificant "problem" compared to theirs...

And we made him inactive.

Without Gronk, gillislee or burkhead we win the SB.
I mean it would be great to have all stats 5 deep at every position but it's not realistic.

Not sure what you are looking to do but anyone like you describe wouldn't want to be a 5, and it's unrealistic we have 5 active WRs.
I think WR5 is a ps spot.

Dobson and Boyce....what a disaster. Our WR scouts really swung and missed in that draft

Yeah, why the hell cant the scouting department foresee that Dobson would have injury issues throughout his time in NE. Similarly, how dare they spent a mid fourth round pick for someone with a 6.68 3-cone and 4.4 speed and also couldnt predict that he would finish more seasons on IR than not.

Amateurs.

There seem to be some discrepancies between how Overthecap and Spotrac present Austin's contract details.

According to Spotrac, Austin's 2018 roster bonus ($5m) is due 3/11/18 (OTC doesn't have those details), so, the Pats would be on the hook for that + Austin's $3m salary in 2018, if a roster bonus transfers with a contract.

Also according to Spotrac, with a post-June 1 CUT or TRADE of Austin, the Rams incur a 2017 dead money cap charge equal to the 2017 roster bonus, which leads me to believe that the $11.47m roster bonus for this season was due/"paid" in early March of this year. However, Spotrac also shows the Rams incurring a 2018 dead money cap charge equal to the 2018 roster bonus, if they trade Austin in 2017 (after June 1st). Now that I think about it, the Rams eating the 2018 roster bonus doesn't make any sense.

OTC shows the same result for a post-June 1 CUT (the Rams eat Austin's 2017 AND 2018 roster bonuses). However, under TRADE, it shows the Rams having ZERO dead money for either year, and it doesn't distinguish between pre-June 1 and post June-1. So that's the discrepancy.

In any case, both sites agree that Austin' 2019-2021 salaries average $9.4m, but also agree that nothing is guaranteed after 2018.
