Edelman Injury Seems to Now Be Confirmed

I think it will change what we call on first and second downs. It will be interesting to see what BB will do now. Will he stay put with four wrs?

Why exactly would we change anything ? Does anyone seriously think that losing Edelman given our WR depth affects the playbook at all ? It just means individual players will have to play more snaps and get a few more targets. All of what Edelman does can be distributed over the players we have left.

It is the intangibles that we will miss most.

Last year they did it without Gronk, this year they'll have to do it without JE. It can be done, better defense, more powerful running game, just can suffer another injury of this magnitude.

We will see. I think they will and can and they are more equipped to do so this year more than any other I can remember. But JE is so important to Brady. Hopefully Cooks pans out as a top tier wide out. He has a huge opportunity now for 80+ catches.

UNFKnBELIEVABLE! It must be tearin him up inside as well. I never fear any opponent we face knowing we have a great chance at a big win. Its Our own team that scares me most hoping that we can get through a season and Playoffs running on all cylinders without some potential season ending or season ending injury.
We're On To KC, LETS GOOO!

I don't think anyone gets open quicker than Edelman on a cut so I think there will be a small dropoff. But hopefully Brady and McDaniels will scheme new ways to get our next man up guys open.

Dion Lewis and TB12 did as well.

You can tear your ACL and walk around just fine.
It was facetious. I once tore my ACL playing backyard football and rode my bike 3 miles home uphill (in snow with paper bags on my feet... j/k the rest is true).

It happened on the first drive

AND it was non-contact injury.

I blame Guerrero.............. Edelman just joined his programme this year. So did Gronk.

I mean, who else can I blame.

The crap pitch on that field?

You wont be blaming Guerrero when Edelman heals in 2 weeks by eating avocado ice cream.

I am still hoping we add another wr off another roster if they don't like what they have right now as a 5th wr.

I sincerely hope you are trying to be sarcastic here.

Cooks, Hogan, Dola, Mitchell, Gronk, Allen, White, Burkhead, Lewis

The offense is still stacked with so many diverse options that actually have been through at least one offseason learning their roles and playbook where I dont see how getting any player that could be a WR5 would be an improvement over Carr or Lucien.

I dont understand why anyone thinks that we need more WR bodies. McD and Brady carried the 2015 offense into the AFCCG with Keyshawn Martin and Chris Harper playing. Like others have said OT and DE (in that order) look like bigger depth issues.

I am so sad for Jules and his injury has put a damper on the start of the season for me. It also reminds me that all of these guys are one wrong footfall away from a major injury and that they really do put their bodies on the line week after week, no matter how much money they earn. Get well soon Jules. We are all thinking of you.

IF we go outside of the organization, would BB consider Jags WR Allen Hurns?? Able to play outside & slot. Also, played pretty well against us in 2015. Undrafted WR who gained over 1,000/ 10 TDs playing injured with Blake Bortles at QB. Receiver with some size; 6'3 205. Durable (played with a sports hernia the entire 2015 season). Worth a flier. I heard he was due to make about $7 million this season (if that's the case, NO). However, listen to BB around the 0:42 & 1:20 second marks!..

How do you know that Edelman hadn't damaged the knee in some way previously and that the cut he made was just the final straw?

I am so fu.cking pissed off about all this I can't even distract myself doing something else. I just want to pound a heavy bag into dust or something.

If a football player getting injured is effecting your life that much might be time to reevaluate some things

I have zero medical training but I do kinda wonder if a combination of
wear and tear and a miniscule reduction in elasticity of the ACL due to age and maybe genetics had a play in this.

I have no clue. Just trying to understand how these freaky things happen.

I've often wondered how large a role genetics play in concussions.

I sometimes think that these guys are so powerful that they are capable of putting incredible amounts of stress on their joints and ligaments.

I do wonder if Jules felt something prior to the actual injury.

No matter the answer it really does just suck that he's out.

I read somewhere in humans, the "space" between the skull and brain is different thus potentially playing a role in why some people are more susceptible to concussions than others.

The question is...is it better to have less or more space/cushion? No clue.

That might play into the genetics angle you are theorizing.

Another mystery where we are all searching for answers.

That's $7M fully guaranteed in 2017. And the Jags have him signed at a similar rate (non-guaranteed) through 2020. I don't see them letting him go anytime soon.
