Addai's excellent performance fires up Maroney

i dont feel its fair to compare young RBs to Addai because of where he is.

his offense has been dominant before him and still is. hes got the best WR duo..2nd best QB. great OL (holds a lot)

hes talented but #s should never really brought up with any RB in Indy when comparing to someone else.'

Maroneys situation will become similar(good WRs..great QB..good OL) but its gonna take more than a year

I am sure the comparisons between the top 4 backs from that class will continue for years, and in the end its probable that the guys will be ultimately ranked in order of how they were picked (Bush, Maroney, Addai and Jones-Drew). That being said, since Bush has the flashiness and is a continue threat in multiple roles, Addai has the ring and Jones-Drew had almost 1000 yds and 45 catches to boot, Maroney needs to step it up this year. If Wes Welker, Moss and Stallworth can stretch the field, and Watson becomes the top notch threat we have been waiting for since making him a first round pick, comparison about the offense of the Colts and Patriots should become moot; although I do agree that last year Addai had a big advantage.

I don't know, man, he showed good vision yesterday. That was a good performance.

Maroney is a guy with higher upside, I see him as being a guy who could evolve into a bigger Marshall Faulk type-back, but I think Addai is ultimately an upgrade over James.

So far, in comparison to the hype, in many ways Bush has been the biggest bust.......Yes, he brings the double threat.....but is MOST effective catching the ball in the flat...and unfortuneatly has the "crazy feet" like Maroney has shown...Addai is not a dancer....He hits the hole and GOES........Maroney needs to also do that....once you have the opening and/or commit to the play...........take it and GO with it.....don't try to get the extra juke......happy feet etc.......See the opening...take it and commit to it........GO PATS!

He's my fantasy RB. So, as painfull as it is to root for the ponies, it was nice to see him put up the numbers.

What roles are those? Not running the ball. Average was crap last year (3.2?) and he sure showed me nothing last night.

To me, it's probable that in the end, Bush will be ranked below Maroney, Addai and maybe even Jones-Drew.

I would have been fine had Maroney been gone by our pick and we ended up with Addai. Rather have Maroney, but Addai was okay with me.

We'll see who puts up numbers long term.

Both are helped by being on a team with a great QB.

This is why fantasy football is evil.
I have him as well, it's not hard to route for him, he's a likeable guy, and is very humble. Having manning last year really suck. well at least he put up better #'s than brees who i have this year.

You can't think of one without the other. Whenever I think of Addai I think of Manning telling Brady 'you stole our guy' and the reports of the Colts war room throwing a nutty when the Pats took Maroney.

The edge so far goes to Addai. He has impressed the hell out of me

responding to the FF comments:

i have never and will never select a colts player

if manning is available--so are palmer and brady

if addai is available--so is gore, westbrook, maroney, fast willie, etc

if harrison and wayne are available, so are housh, steve smith, etc

show some spine you f*ckers

Sometimes it almost makes it easier. At least if they do well, your fantasy team benefits. And if your fantasy player stinks it up, at least the enemy had a bad game too.

So it sounds like you go Addai, Maroney, then Bush. Exactly opposite of what I thought. In terms of your comments:

Bush had 88 receptions last year for 8+ yd avg. Including 132 in the NFCCG - which is 2/3rds of what Maroney had all year (194). Bush also had a 65 yd kick return. And about Bush's low avg per carry ...compared to other playoff totals wasn't so bad.. does 5 for 5 (1.0) and 8 for 13 (1.6) sound familiar to anyone?

Nobody is denying that Bush is a good receiver. Too bad he can't run between the tackles. And why are you just disregarding the whole season and acting like two playoff games(in which Maroney was battling through injuries) take precedent?

hehehe. Be a Belichick disciple, do whatever makes your team better!

Is it me or does Addai look a lot bigger this year?

Any crappy back will look good in Colts offense... Addai is nothing special he was average in college he is average now... all Colts did were get a young back who is fast and pretty big, but they got him for a cheap rookie contract... now he is gonna put up the numbers (because no team cares about him, they want to stop manning and the passing O) and then Colts will send Addai to Arizona for a 1t round pick where he would suck *****

Bingo! Do a lot of people not even realize this? Edge looked real great in Arizona right? Rhodes had some pretty good games with the Colts, and could have been the SB MVP. Even last night their backup RB who is basically a nobody looked good the few times he carried the ball. They're almost becoming the Broncos in that just about any decent RB looks good, and any good RB looks great. Let's also not forget they were playing the NFC Saints last night

PS: Madden was talking about Addai being the Colts only real threat at RB and if he was to go down the Colts would be in trouble. Funny thing is I'm willing to bet if Addai was to go down for any length of time their backup RB would do almost as good in the running department. The only area (which is important) where I'd see Addai being missed is as a receiver.

idea brings speed and size but he also brings smarts. he learned their offense very well and he can block (youd expect him to..he was a FB a few times in college)

it takes skill to play in that offense(memorizing) but its not like even gets a chance to show crazy feet like Maroney (according to someone)

1. Maroney was hurt when he had "crazy feet" so obviously he wont just "hit it" Funny how you failed to mention 3/4th of the season where he just hit the hole and got good yards.

2. Colts offense > our offense for now. They have great chemistry. they block as 1. Addai gets holes.

yes Addai has been a good back but put Maroney there he would be better. No offense to Addai, hes a classy guy ..good runner. Just saying..Maroney is better

and agree. They said Kenton Keith wont be nearly as good. His first play in he broke a 8-9 yard run. To be good in Colts offense, you need versatility and know a complex offense. Your running ability is not as important
