Brady speaks... "After deliberations with my legal advisors, I have decided to file a 100 billion dollar lawsuit against Roger Goodell, John Mara and the heirs to the Rooney estate for defamation of character, deliberate corporate malfeasance, misfeasance of authority and organized criminal racketeering"

LORD HEAR MY PRAYER

Again there is a large gap between what he said and saying he is retiring.
There really is zero evidence of any intention to retire. This idea of him making this up because he doesn't want a retirement tour is a creation of the assumption he is retiring, of which there is absolutely zero evidence.
He literally came out and said it greatest detail that his wife supports him playing as long as he wants to.
What you are doing is creating something (that he wants to retire) and then your "proof" is that he says he isn't but why would he say he is.
You're constructing a straw man here. And a very flimsy one at that. Where did I say he's retiring? What I said was this was nothing more than a political statement in which he in no way made any guarantees about playing until 45 (although you seem to be taking it that way) and also left himself quite a bit of wiggle room in the process. As Deus said, he said nothing. I'll ask you again: do you really expect the guy to tell the world when he ACTUALLY plans to retire?

Do you think he is the kind of guy that would spend years just telling repeated bald faced lies about the subject? (Including lying to his father in the quote in my signature)

Ask the guy that couldn't even fully commit to 45 in the quote in the OP. He's not even sure. Yet some on this forum are. That's what's so rich to me. And yes, this is definitely a guy that would say that in order to keep the spotlight off of him and make it about the team. I'll ask you the same question: do you really expect Brady to come out and announce his actual retirement plans and date/age?

Oh sorry guys. I didn't notice the attempt to take this one off topic again in what is another shameless attempt at an embarrassing 6,000 page thread topic of nothing but word salad. Didn't mean to take it back in that direction. Carry on.

Tom Brady doesn’t dispute Gisele’s concussion claim

The idiocy and begging of issues continues, Brady does not dispute Gisele's concussion claim because E:60 did not specifically ask about concussions, ergo he is not disputing it because there is nothing to dispute..

ESPN idiocy continues.... how Mike Reiss puts up with these assclowns is beyond my comprehension..

From your lips to God's ear.

Nah he's right about that one, there's talk all over the place about Brady possibly retiring early for family's sake. what he's ignoring is that it's always broached as a possibility. Something that could shorten the window on even a healthy Brady. Just another factor to consider. Yet another reason as if one was needed that banking on the GOAT for the next 5 years without managing your risks is nonsense.

I did break faith with tradition and caught a few minutes of the BSPN*-Brady interview, featuring his recent trip to China and Japan. It was very good.

Exactly. For me personally, given everything we've heard, IF Brady decides to hang it up after 2017, it really shouldn't surprise anyone. If he continues to keep playing, it shouldn't surprise anyone either. Brady himself didn't even fully commit to 45 in the quote. He can't. The 45 talk is just a way to quiet the noise because, in the end, the man simply will not announce to us or anyone outside of the team and his own inner circle when he plans to retire.

While agreeing with you that 45 is nowhere near an ironclad statement, I disagree there's nothing to the number at all. My impression is that for Brady, 45 is a goal to shoot for. I think he will legitimately try to play until he's 45.

The question is what he will do if his body starts disagreeing. Personally I'd like to believe and hope that he wouldn't drag the franchise through a quarterback controversy if there was a valid starter behind him. But I don't know that, the man is very competitive and it might take a period of time for him to admit that his body is done.

That's the thing that I'd like to avoid if possible, especially if it could cost us a playoff spot, and ESPECIALLY especially if a young, healthy starter-in-the-wings taking the helm at the right time (not too soon but definitely not too late either) could prevent us from missing the playoffs.

Unquestionably, the biggest mistake of your life, if you actually do that. Have you never interacted with women before?

Some times my wife lies for no reason. We've been together for so long that I know when she's doing it.

No, but I don't believe for a second he would tell a very long string of deliberate lies - especially to his father - like you think he would.

If that's the case, and you don't think he would unequivocally say when he will retire, then you inherently believe that he's being dishonest when he tosses out the 45 number as a target age. Yeah, the guy would absolutely play coy with this in order to avoid what Favre went through at the end. And for the record, I believe that Brady absolutely wants to play into his mid-40's as long as he's playing at a level that is acceptable to him. What you heard/read in this quote is that not even he is sure that will happen. But it's okay. PatsFans.com is sure and, in the end, isn't that all that really matters?

I never jumped in on the whole "Gisele wants Tom to quit" thing...much too fraught with peril... But I just might here.
I have read/watched probably every interview Gisele has done since about 01' on...I even translate her interviews in other languages. The very first time someone ever got her to talk about Tom in an interview (08'I believe)she brought up that football was his passion. In 08' she had a Brazilian TV show ask about if Tom gets hurt, she said how he gets huge bruises & all banged up & she's like "Oh my God", but he's used to it & something to the effect that he knows how to take care of himself... In 12' she talked about how she understands that football is Tom's passion, how it "feeds his soul". Many of the interviews I do not have transcripts for, but you see a very clear picture of her feeling that Tom loves football, she may not understand football herself, but it is a crucial element to his happiness, so she fully supports it. She has talked for years about how each individual has to do what makes him or her truly happy, before they can make other people happy. I do not believe Gisele would try to make Tom quit if it's not what he wants. She can be an annoying holier-than-thou celeb at times, but the picture I have gotten of her over the years is that she is fiercely loyal, devoted, passionate, somewhat hotheaded (& occasionally regrets making comments after she sees them in print) & fanatically supportive of her family & friends ambitions. From saying she didn't find British men attractive back in 03, to saying Tom has concussions in 17', non story then, non-story now.
She always has & probably always will make comments without thinking about the effect they will have. Inherently a good person, runs her mouth at inopportune moments. Tom seems to really like her & everyone in the fashion industry has nothing but praise for her professionalism, work ethic & personality. She's human after all.

Goddammit. such a fat pitch over the center of the plate... but since I've got a wife on here clearly identified as MrsPFnV, I won't say...

"We all do"

You are drawing an erroneous logical conclusion and putting words in my mouth.

You asked if I "really expect Brady to come out and announce his actual retirement plans and date/age". I said no, I don't expect it.... but that hardly means I don't think such a thing is possible. Furthermore, having a target age that he wants to play to is hardly announcing with certainty that he will retire in (for example) 2022.

What I do not believe is that Tom Brady would spend years lying to people (including his father) by stating time and again he wants to play until his mid-40's and then surprise us all with a sudden retirement in (for example) March of 2018. Circumstances may change, but I do not believe Brady's retirement is coming anytime soon.

Playing coy is one thing. Outright lying to everybody is quite another. You think Brady is the type to lie to everyone to misdirect them and save himself some media hassle. I disagree.

Don't worry, you're safe. She hasn't made a single post in this forum since the week after they closed the Political subforum. She doesn't come around here no mo'.

I'm hardly putting words in your mouth. You answered my question in the resounding negative. That means that you, yourself, think Brady has been less than honest when he's said in the past that he plans to play until 45. He himself, at that point, was effectively giving the world a retirement date. He's now almost begun to walk that back as even in the quote he doesn't sound as sure anymore. And no, this is not a man that will announce his retirement before it happens. The team will know it and his family will know it. We will have no idea.
