Having the QB is 40-50% of the teams success. Add another 30% for good coaching/Player Personnel, that leaves 30% for everything else.

This is just a complete wack job estimate of my value system lol.. technically in the NFL its different every season. But in general I would say this is about the right percentages.

So JAG is gonna stay here in 2018 and accept something far less than $25M/yr to do so. Riiiiight!

If Jimmy gets franchised next year, he will reap some of the benefits of Derek Carr's contract.

Nice, mature answer. (even if not entirely sincere)

____

OAK understood they have a keeper and they kept him . quite reasonably . while most of the league is throwing darts..

WAS can't decide . keeps paying top gtd money for one year stands . (another 34M if they want to keep him under tag in 2018) . wo bringing/having alternative (or so it seams)..

Carr won't be the highest paid player for long. The Lions will have to overpay Stafford in the next few weeks. He will become the target then. And any good QB will surely deserve more than Stafford because Stafford can't beat anybody that has a good defense.

I don't see him how they keep Garrapolo past this season, the money is simply too high and waiting for five years for a shot at a starting job makes no sense. He gets traded in August for a first, franchised and traded after the season, or they let him walk for a compensatory pick. Those are the only options that I can see.

Makes sense.
Are sensible posts allowed here off season?

My son's High School QB suffered nearly the exact same injury during the playoffs his JR year and came back for his SR year and was fine. I'm sure the doctors Carr is being tended by are far better than what the local kid was getting. He will return and be fine, IMO. And the Raiders too as I don't believe they would have just shelled out 72 mil in guarantees if they had any doubts.
I don't have the data to debate that with you, a an HS junior/senior is 17 or 18. Carr is by no means "old" at 26, but it doesn't seem impossible that those additional eight or nine years, plus the wear and tear of a College and Pro career, could make a difference here.

None of us can know, so we're all entitled to our opinions. Yours is certainly a sensible one and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it came to pass.

My view is that Belichick and Kraft have decided to take it "one season at a time" when it comes to Brady's longevity, even if that means limiting their options as time passes. I think they keep JG this season and go "back to the drawing board" next February.

Jimmy G must be livid
If he doesn't get to play and be set up for success when he does play he wont see close to that kind of pay day.
I dunno.

This is the business that JG decided to get into. A lot of things had to work against him for him to be in this situation, but his situation is indeed a reality that was never off the charts in terms of possibilities.

In other words, there is no point in his getting "livid," as that will only work against him.

Belichick and Kraft have been at this long enough and are smart enough to have an understanding of what Garoppolo is likely feeling at this point.

For his part, Garoppolo knows that BB and Kraft's first and only concern is the success of the team, as they envision it.

JG has a lot to lose by getting visible angry (I think of "livid" as "purple in the face" angry) and everything to gain by behaving in a consistently professional manner.

In other words, when things are out of your control, all you can do is redouble your efforts and keep moving ahead.

Hard for me to say, the Brady threads pissed me off so much I finally put them on ignore. So right now I can't lay much claim to rational as I really let it get to me.

Good Guy Derek Carr!

I don't know why. None of the people you mentioned in the mega thread are worth taking seriously. They're just people that would say dumb stuff no matter what the subject matter is.

Agreed. Stafford must be the most frustrating quarterback in the league if you are a Lions fan. Stafford is 5-43 against teams with a winning record.

I heard the deal is back-loaded, which may make it even more valuable because the Raiders are going to Nevada, which has 0% state income tax vs. the 13.3% in California.

You're absolutely right, but it's on me. I'm just completely burned out on the sh.t Brady has been getting from all corners for years and seeing it coming from Patriot fans just pisses me off. Like politics I'm just happier when I tune it out and don't engage.

Hope the shoulder is doing well.

And Stafford is about to get paid

Better than it's ever been, actually. Even pre-injury. I followed the PT's advice to a tee. Now I have to get the back figured out.
