OT - Celtics to trade #1 overall pick?

Morons like Danny Ainge keep you from taking the Patriots' competence for granted. Something is seriously wrong with that organization. The fact that that fool still has a job is clear proof.
Seriously? You're an idiot.

they are going to flip picks for Jimmy Butler...then get a premier veteran on a max contract (Hayward?). Plus they have 2 guys coming from overseas that they stashed.

love it

Not happy about the heist he pulled on Brooklyn?

My thoughts are this. Fultz on a championship team is a #2 maybe even just a #3. He may turn out to be one of the top 20 players in the NBA and maybe even just barely top 10 or just outside it but that doesn't take you were you want to go.

If you want a James/Durant/Curry/Davis/ect... someone who is arguably or solidly in the top 5 at the least. If you can't get it this year that I would be happy to trade this pick entirely for a few more shots to get it. After you have that guy things just seem to fall into place around you cause now you become a magnet for free agents.

Isn't the top pick in the NBA draft insanely good and can get you a franchise type player that can completely turn things around?

Why would you trade that when you have a solid, young team already

I know nothing about college basketball or these players, but is it a deep draft?

The NBA and NFL are so different (squad size, draft length, contract issues, two-way players, etc.) that I don't think a lot of the "lessons" from the Patriots carry over well.

If they do that bit of stupidity, every Celtics fan on the planet should immediately find another team to cheer.

LOL. If this signals that Danny believes that the Celtics can win now and are going to go after someone like Butler to pair with a FA signing in Howard then Celtics fans should burn down the Garden.

But they won't because Celtics fans would cheer their team if they went 15-67.

Danny is looking for a Nets-type deal. I have a feeling he moves back again if does move from 1.

If the Celtics aren't sold on the #1 being a significant standout then there is nothing wrong with this approach.

If you don't think Fultz is going to wind up being a top 5 super star caliber player, then trade the picks for more assetts.

This isn't the NFL. You can't win in this league without a superstar unless you have a team full of top 20 players. If Fultz isn't that superstar, use that asset to get a better chance of getting him.

FWIW . . . .

NBA/NFL are exactly alike in the sense that you're going nowhere unless you have a top 5 player/ Franchise QB.

I can't believe the hate for Ainge. The reason the Celts are in a good position is because he's fleeced teams.

They've rebuilt quickly.
Come on. There is a rumor he is considering doing something. Clearly that makes him a moron.

Assuming the Sixers 2017 #3 is just one piece of the deal.....
Would you negotiate for the Sixers' 2018 Lakers' #1 pick or the Sixers' 2019 Kings' #1 pick?
Remember..... the Celtics have the Nets" 2018 #1 pick still coming

Lakers president Magic Johnson "is in love" with Markelle Fultz and may try to move up to No. 1 possibly with Julius Randle included in a trade, according to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express.

The top pick looks to be on the block and it sounds like the Lakers and 76ers could get involved in a bidding war. The Lakers have said Brandon Ingram is really the only untouchable player, so unloading Randle is a possibility. The Celtics are expected to go after a power forward in free agency, so someone like Randle may change things. He's having a productive offseason and has lost some weight this summer.

Yes. Depends how badly they want the kid.

The firmest rumor I've heard is 1 for 3 plus Phillys 2018 and LAs 2018 both unprotected. Put together with Brkn 2018, that would likely give them three shots at the lottery in a draft loaded with gifted bigs.
