Crap!

They ALL married Courtney Love?

Only Kurt Cobain was foolish enough to do that. Legend has it that, fresh out of rehab, Kurt wanted to get his life together and leave with their young daughter. The prenup would have left her with next to nothing.

Fortunately for her, Kurt somehow figured out how to use a shotgun on himself with a lethal amount of heroin in his system before he filed for divorce. All the witnesses/suspects were junkies so no real investigation was done. Courtney inherits about $150M in Nirvana royalties.

I'm gut punched
Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
Layne Staley (Alice in Chains)
Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots)
Chris Cornell (Soundgarden)

Only Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) is left from the top grunge bands.
Temple of the dog--which Sirius likes to drive down my throat on the Pearl Jam channel.

The latest documentary strongly suggests that she was unfaithful, which played a role in his wanting to move on.

Tough to hear. All I can do is echo what was already written here. His voice was legendary and he'll be sorely missed.

One time I got to see him in concert down at the Pavillion was memorable for a different weird reason. Word spread amongst the crowd [back in, maybe 2007 - we were flip phone users] that Tedy Bruschi had died - recall he had recovered from a stroke. I don't recall all the details, but thinking Tedy had passed made my blood run cold - I won't forget that feeling.

The Grunge Scene was during my college years.

Every death of one of these guys bothers me.

Kurt's was the worst.

Scotty Weiland, Staley and now CC's passing just makes me sad.

Thank god there were here on Earth long enough to contribute great music.

Hopefully EV takes care of himself and lives to still offer up more great music for years to come.

Never heard of the guy till today

Plus that backstabbing, manipulative, skank knew Kurt from his mom he was manic depressive, bi-polar with a heroin habit and always prematurely checked him out of hospitals and get-clean centers way before he was ready. She refused to have him diagnosed for his conditions by doctors b/c that was invalidate the last will and testament as it could be proven she doctored her entitlement to Nirvana's catalog of music which is fact.

Courtney Love is satan. Pure evil.

Who would admit to being with her?
Supposedly one of the male members of Hole--IIRC. I don't know who the hell was in that **** band, so I'm not going to be much help. A bass or guitar player, maybe?

The suggestion was very strong in the latest documentary. It was the one that Cyril Wecht was in. It's pretty much how they ended the story, driving their point home even more.

Same here. Started college in 1991. First heard Smells Like Teen Spirit December of that year and it was a life-changing moment. I so distinctly remember thinking "WHAT THE **** IS THIS?" in complete awe.

Somehow I only first heard the Pixies in 1993.

I saw Nirvana in Springfield, MA during the In Utero tour....freaking awesome. Cobain threw a whole bunch of water at Kris b/c he screwed up the last song. I'm sure he was stoned. Had that stupid transparent woman mannequin with the wings on the stage.

re: Pixies....I was almost excited to see them when they opened for U2 during the Achtung Baby tour in 1992.

Saw Soundgarden open for GNR at the Centrum back in 90 or 91 on the Use Your Illusion tour. Always liked Cornell's voice...sucks he took his own life...

Was into lots of the grundge tunes back in college, started in 92...STP, AIC (prob my fav of the period), Screaming Trees, etc....but have always been and always will be a hard rock/metal guy - 'Smith, Zeppelin, VH, Sabbath, Mettalica before they sucked, Rush, AC/DC etc...

Rock On Bros....

I never got to see Nirvana, unfortunately.

Finally saw the Pixies in 2013.

Amazes me that the GNR guys outlived so many of the famous Seattle grunge scene guys. I'm trying to understand what that tells me about the contrast between the two eras, music styles, party scenes, influences and attitudes, etc. GNR's antics openly courted death, yet they've all somehow survived.

I don't think you would even need the documentary to realize that. I felt it was obvious a long time ago that she was that way to him.

black gives way to blue
I saw them back in sept in Boston. they were absolutely great. they still have their fastball. rip Chris Cornell. I love sound garden and Audioslave. what an amazing voice he had. my fav decades for music. the 70s and the 90s.

I meant to contrast the frontmen. The grunge guys have almost all died prematurely whereas Axl Rose, Slash, et al. are still alive.

I'll check out AIC's new stuff, though. Thanks for the recommendation. I saw them open up for Velvet Revolver once upon a time. I was only vaguely aware of them prior to that show, and it definitely put me on to them.

Just not the same to me without Layne Staley.
