Scott Zolak hinted Patriots are talking with Butler about signing an extension (w/ audio!)

I see no evidence to support these "reports" as being more than just reporters making stuff up, or wording their own musings as if they are actual reporting.

There's nothing I've read above that indicates we have any real information about what Butler wanted, was thinking, or is thinking, in terms of his contract. The same about the Pats.

Feeling used? Naah, the Saints could have cut out the middle man at any time by signing Butler to an offer sheet and coughing up pick #11. Rumors had it that the Saints offered something cheap like a 3rd rounder plus.

There's no way the Pats would have been smart to take that offer when they could have just held onto Butler and win a Superbowl this year with one of the best CB duos in the NFL. Plus there is still a chance to negotiate an extension before the season starts.

Yep, got the Aints to peg market value, and then turned down all their trade offers. If I'm Sean and they do extend Butler I'm feeling used.

It's from Zolak. He's pretty tied in.

Lol! At everyone who believes MB, is gonna be here after this year. He's gonna cash in BIG time, after another stellar year in NE.(neither side will agree to an extension, because their both banking on their own views)

--- He's back in New England now, but Malcolm Butler "badly" wanted to be traded to the Saints, according to a report. ---

What report is that? Maybe it's another Mort Distort or another Jon Tomasy fictionalized report.

I "badly" wanted to see proof that what is being written isn't total bs, like most of what has been written on the subject of Butler. I guess I'm asking for too much.

This will be Malcolms 4th year in the league, he literally has little to complain about. He is still going to get a big pay day one way or the other. He will get a 4 year contract worth 12/14 mil per year most likely. And if he is still going strong at age 31 he will get another 2 year deal.

When did Butler complain? All the complaints seem to be coming from Pats fans.

He has earned every single penny that he was paid and then some.

The extension talk is a bunch of bull. Of course, Butler is sorry he has to play for
only 3.9 million. The bad guys in this situation are the Saints. They made Butler
an offer knowing full well they would offer the Patriots very little in return.

It is interesting to see the folks think that Butler didn't want to make $10M a year for the Saints "badly" enough. Of course, Butler wanted to be traded and sign a new deal with New Orleans. But, of course, that is only my position. Others may think that he would rather make $3.9M and hope to make up for the money after a great year, and no franchise tag.

Butler probably realized his true worth and the fact that playing in NE is by far the best situation for him.

Yes, Butler realized that signed his tender was better than not. The patriots have a great deal 2/$19M with only the first $4M guaranteed.
