I am disappointed in him. A quitter. Not a true competitor. If the corpse of PM could win a SB then Romo should have played this year.

I agree. I don't blame him for making the choice he did but a guy with real competitive fire would have tried to play 1 more year. However if he had that he may have been more successful in his career too.

Disagree. His body has long told him he's done. He has decades left. Don't live a life of pain for measly millions. Nowhere near worth it.

He was a good QB, not even close to the HOF.
A gunslinger, who was not good at managing games.

With the exception of Eli, who'll end up in the HOF because of two playoff runs with a horseshoe up his ass, the QB HOFers of the "2000's" are pretty easy to see, and Romo's not one of them. Favre and Warner are already in, so where you slot them, in terms of era, doesn't matter.

Brady
Peyton
Rodgers
Brees
Roethlisberger

After that, it's the dropoff, and either Rivers or McNabb would be next in line.

Nice list.

I would be interested in your analysis in putting Brees in front of Roethlisberger. I personally like Brees much more. However, without doing any analysis, it seems to me from memory that Big Ben did more with less. I guess I'm thinking of all of those years where he was running for his life behind a lousy offensive line and somehow still being productive. And, it is hard to forget the way he pulled a rabbit out of the hat in his second Super Bowl win.

Agreed. Plus, I doubt if he will have to apply for food stamps with his new network job.

Plus he gets to get his gig before the competition from the horde of ESPN talking heads who are about to be let go.

Even if he didn't he wasnt going to be playing this season anyway. Jones wasn't releasing him (and nobody is about to trade a ransom for him that Jerry is looking for) and Dak is the starter.

Ben's had the benefit of better defenses, generally, and has also, generally, had solid receiving options around him. I like Ben, and I've pretty consistently rated him at the top of the league's QBs, but I think that he's just not quite up to Brees level. I'm open to persuasion on this one, though.

BTW, here's a list of the 2017 QB nominees:

QUARTERBACKS (7): Drew Bledsoe, Randall Cunningham, Doug Flutie, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, Phil Simms, *Kurt Warner

Nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017 announced

If you take away Flutie, who's missing a lot of NFL years because of the CFL, I'm not sure I could vote Romo ahead of any of the other nominees, and that group doesn't count the guys still going, who are going to be added to the list.

Raiders are the only team with a shred of hope, since they have a legit big time QB.

Wow. You got tickets booked for Carr's HoF enshrinement already ?

Lets see if he can actually show consistency to play at a high level before calling him a legit big time QB.

I just hope he better than Simms. Hard to be worse.

Agree with most but big time is quite a stretch. You know who Carr is? Jake Delhomme. He isn't accurate enough to be a big time QB. I like him a lot, but he isn't big time.
Gotta strongly disagree with that.

Carr isn't Brady, but he played on a way higher level last year than Delhomme ever did. Delhomme at his best played some above average QB for a few years.

Carr has that clutch gene that most QB's don't have. He was the sole reason the Raiders won so many games last year. Delhomme never had that level of impact.

Not even close

I agree that his resume on the football field is not even close to HoF standards. However, his job as a face of football for some network will put him right into the middle of the fraternity of media members. If they found a way to make Dungy a member of the HoF they will find a way to sneak Romo in. Eventually.

What are you defining as big time? Top 3 with Rodgers and Brady?

I think Carr is a top 10 QB easily, sure. I don't see that being a very bold statement. What has the guy done wrong so far? He's only gotten better every year. No one is coronating him for ****.

I mean what else than top tier could "legit big time" mean ? How many more superlatives can you add in there ?

Two is a lot? My superlatives weren't the point.

If he goes to CBS and replaces Simms, that eliminates the forehead from getting that job.
Be aware though that Tony Gonzalez (CBS Pregame) is not returning.
Don't b surprised if Romo,s name is penciled as a replacement to Lynch under Fox
