Patriots Draft Profile Villanova DE Tanoh Kpassagnon

"Raw" seems like an understatement wrt Kpassagnon.

Having watched his "highlight reel" and some of his game tape, he seems to get by exclusively on sheer athleticism. Far too often, he doesn't appear to know what he's doing or where he's supposed to be.

Sure, vaunted "NFL coaching" could turn him into a "real" player, but how long would that take? Even after four years of playing in college, he still didn't seem to be "getting it". Depending on which team takes him and the quality of their coaching staff, he could be turned into a decent rotational defensive contributor by his third season (maybe). But, then he'd only be under contract for another couple of seasons.

Based on his current rankings, it seems likely he'll be selected in the 4th round by some team, but he'll still be a long-term project. IMHO, the Pats could find better value among other prospects, even at other positions, with their #131.

I love the guy. I would definitely take him in the 4th round if he was there. I bet he goes in the 3rd round or earlier. With mediocre coaching at the Senior Bowl, he was a beast. Might I add, he was a beast vs better competition than he was usually up against. He can be a disruptive force and get after the QB. 6th in the country with 21 tackles for loss and tied for 5th with 11 sacks. Yes he's raw, but what skills you have to work with and mold into a beast. 6'7" 290 and ran a 4.83. Also, he's extremely smart. I'd be thrilled to get him. He's a perfect project for BB and Patricia.

He reminds me of a bigger, blacker Bobby Boucher. As in he has no ****ing clue what he's doing, but he somehow gets it done due to sheer athleticism.

Mamma said I can't play no foosball

What a name. Sounds like what someone would name a Klingon.

Cousin , He is either Bobby, Bengals DE Michael Johnson with limited NFL success or Jason Pierre-Paul. If I recall the word "raw" was used on JPP.

Kpassagnon is creeping up from a fifth to a third or fourth.I'd spend a third with that potential. Bill does OK with small college kids like JE, as well as schools like Navy, Monmouth and Eastern Illinois and the lesser know schools like Rutgers.

I see our Draft a little differently if BB is stuborn on moving Jimmy G. I think a one and a couple of twos for a kid with a game and a half experience (albeit I think he is a starting caliber NFL QB) is value. Every time BB makes a trade, first thing he mentions is value.

We have a better Draft class this year and you need immediate impact on picks tor #12, not three years and we''ll see??? Jimmy G wants to play not sit. The tag on him will be $27mm next year as a bench guy. Is he worth more now still cheap and controllable or hold a clip board one more year? Injuries? Aaron Rodgers could get hurt, Teddy Bridgewater is younger than #12 and look. Big Ben gets dinged every year. Injuries are luck.

I regress....Let's say we only have what we have now for picks.
THIRD
#72 CB Sidney Jones -Washington (first round talent with Achilles healing) May red shirt pending Butler.
#96 DE Kpassagnon-Nova
FOURTH
#131 RB James Conner - Pitt
(big back who can block and catch. Blount VS youth. Love Blount but he is 31. LBlount doesn't give you catches.
FIFTH
#163 TE Eric Saubert-Drake
. Developmental kid with great quickness and size . But...... I think Rob Housler can be the third TE as he might have been a steal signed to our roster. This kid from Drake is developmental
#183 (TRADE) OLB Mychal Kendricks from Eagles. Young, experienced, can cover and fast as our LB core is slow and we have an issue of speed. Could be the best pick up of 2017. Could start for Pats. Eagles will trade with us and said a Fifth works (we got CB Eric Rowe in 2016). Best deal of the Draft?
SIXTH
#200 T/C J.J. Dielman-Utah.
One of best lineman in pack 12 but had lower leg issue that cut 2016 short. Good value. BB versatile position O lineman.
SEVENTH
#239 QB Alek Torgersen-Penn.
Set all records at Penn. was one of the Shrine game stars. Has been interviewed by Pats. Good size. Very smart

Now the cherries on top. Don't stop FA picks Bill. You have $:

FA DE Devin Taylor was Lions behind Ziggy. Young pass rusher and 6'7" Under the radar type BB signing. Better stats than Kony. We need one more DE for rotation.

Last. FA WR Michael Floyd .The kid maybe learned a lesson. Perhaps the most talented WR potential other than Cooks. He hides a few games anyway (see Goodell). Might be needed as insurance anyway when our WR pick up dings the way they play.

He seems more of a 3-4 DE to me, but if he's still available at 96 (or preferably 131)
and we haven't drafted a DE yet, then I would pull the trigger for him.

K-Pass or Demarcus Walker would be an interesting choice to have to make.

Do you start off pronouncing his last name with a K or a P?

The P is easier, the Kp is beyond my capacity.

The K is silent. Last name starts with a "Pass" sound.
