SB LI was the greatest NFL game of all time.

SB 43 was the best SB from start to finish I've ever seen. That game was off the charts. SB 49 was the best Patriot SB game imo. SB 42 & SB 39 were....bleh.

Epic in Miami ( Seven years before my time) is still the greatest football game I've seen. Even if it was on YouTube.

I remember a match when the Ultimate Warrior was completely down and out. Macho Man Randy Savage's finishing move was the flying elbow drop from off the corner rope. However, instead of of doing it once, he did five of them in a row. The Ultimate Warrior was completely destroyed. Macho Man went to pin him as a formality, but just between the second and third tap, the seemingly lifeless body of the Warrior suddenly moved. Stunned, Macho Man, picked him up to knock him around more. What happened next was epic, as the Warrior's face paint began peeling off from the sheer will and exhaustion of his perseverance. Eventually, the Ultimate Warrior regained the momentum, leading to an epic comeback and ecstatic crowd.

That's the best one I can remember.

And then U.W. sped off with Elizabeth

Which it absolutely wasn't. In my incredibly biased opinion, the greatest sporting event in North American sports history was and still is the 2004 ALCS

Not sure what the disagrees are for because that series has got to be in the conversation. That was a Week long emotional event that had everything in it. Clutch hitting, pitching, base running and all of that during an epic never been done before comeback ending with the NYPD riot squad entering the stadium to calm the out of control butt hurt Yankee fans.

Couldn't agree with this more. Greatest sporting event I've ever seen, biggest upset win ever.

Just wondering if your calling it an upset because of the 3-0 lead, because the Red Sox were arguably better than the Yankees in 03 and 04
That game was also the best finish in NYFL history. It was more of a sudden death game than an OT game. There wasn't going to be a tie.

I am a big football history guy and Its hard for me to say there was a better game than the "The greatest game ever played"

3-0 comebacks had happened before that, just not in baseball. I also think a series and a game can not be compared.

SB 43 was the best SB from start to finish I've ever seen.

Here we definitely have a Patriots bias but you are right, Super Bowl 43 was a pretty amazing game. I would think that at least 80% people who have no rooting interesting in any team involved would count SB 43 as a better game than SB 51.

No, it's not. The Miracle on Ice crushes the 2004 ALCS easily.

While the 04 ALCS was arguably the most epic MLB playoff win I'd say of all time plus what it meant for Boston... the Miracle on Ice transcended hockey, the Olympics and all sports and became something much more than that in our country. It was badly needed at a time of uncertainty and worry in America.

Something like that won't happen again imo.

Actually I was referring to the US beating the USSR at Lake Placid, the biggest upset of all-time

The best played game may have been SB 36 and it had the drama of being the biggest SB upset, 9/11 and a backup QB.

Super 49 was the great relief. Getting past 10 years of losses/close calls and putting to rest the Spygate/deflategate bs it was such a relief.

Super bowl 51 was the four thousand pound cherry on top. Although BB and TB were thought of as GOATs in NE that win forced the rest of the nation to acknowledge that.

What a freaking ride it's been.

SB51 feels great and it's easy to see why Pats fans will call it the greatest of all time. Emotionally, I don't know if we've ever been higher; SB49 and SB36 are contenders for that title. But at the end of the day, that one game did a number of things:

1. Vindicated Brady
2. Sealed Brady as the GOAT for almost everyone
3. Represented the most significant comeback in modern football history
4. Stuck it to the Poison Ginger

But as a game? There are a lot of great games out there, including SB49. I'm partial to saying the game on the field was better during SB49 and probably SB38. I saw some talk of SB43 and it's hard to argue that point.

For Pats fans, it's not crazy to say SB51 is the greatest game ever, but it's arguable. I see non-Pats fans saying the same thing...for now. We'll see what happens when the recency bias wears off. Maybe the label will stick, maybe not.

EDIT - One thing is for sure; when the Pats are in the Super Bowl, history tells us it's going to be a hell of a show.

3-0 comebacks had happened before that, just not in baseball. I also think a series and a game can not be compared.

Sure I'm ok with that. I'm just saying that to me personally it was one of the greatest series of games I've ever watched. I've rewatched that series multiple times just as I've watched SB 36,49 and 51 multiple times. Each of those games were off the charts great one way or another.

With the Red Sox it was more of a family thing. My Grandmother and I used to chat about the Sox all season long. I'd call her a couple of times a month and she'd just chat about how Clemens is a wife beating traitor or how Pedro had just right attitude the team needed to get past the Bambino curse. But when Big Papi pulled off that ALCS magic he became her 3rd favorite Sox of all time behind only Ted Williams and Jason Varitek. She was born in 1918 so you could imagine her delight in 2004. It was special. So that series meant a lot.

SB 36 was huge for me and my brother. We had watched them get close or somewhat close a couple of times. Once in 1986 and again in 1996. But when Brady took us to the promise land and the way that team battled both defensively and offensively against the greatest show on turf it was just electrifying. It shouldn't have happened. It was against all odds. On a side note: it was during SB 36 when we anointed Troy Brown "Troy (the football God) Brown" because that dude was just always seemed to be at the right place at the right time. He was capt clutch.

So that's a long way of saying it is all subjective. :D

I wouldn't say "crushes" but I agree that it should rank above. But I'm talking about for me personally.

Count me among those that say while it was clearly hands down the greatest comeback of all time, greatest game? Eh. Too many mistakes that were bad decisions or unforced errors for that IMO. It was a crappy 2 and a half quarters of play and that is far too long in my book for greatest "game" ever. 49 blew it away as two heavy weights going at it for 60 mins. I have never gone from as low a low after the kearse catch (not this #!*\ing **** again!!!!!) to as high a high after the butler did it that fast ever. There was drama and suspense almost until the final whistle. In 51 once they won the coin toss I sat back totally relaxed knowing the game was over. The exciting climax was no where near as satisfying IMO

Brady was asked what his favorite SB was on an NFL Films interview. His answer......."The next one"

In terms of quality of play I think 49 was better

Yup, quality play plus an epic matchup. Seahawks and pats were big favorites that year and ended up playing in the sb, that rarely happens this day n age. Falcons were great this year but they dont quite have that main event status yet.
