The Malcolm Butler 'What if?" Mock Draft Game

Fine, then lets figure out what teams there could pick a QB IF they falls...
I see: Cardinals, Giants, Chargers, Chiefs, Texans, Steelers as options... Others?

Two of those teams are taking a QB in the first round. You missed a fairly obvious one that will also be picking a round one QB. Hint: Pick No 12

I'm going to call it as TRADE is winning hands down.

TRADE: Tennessee Titans trade 18, 83, 100 (1,175 pts) for Patriots 11 (1,250 pts)

With Mike Williams off the board, the Titans trade up for Corey Davis. They were the only team offering a trade and don't have a second round pick. Patriots take what is offered but with three 3rds and a two 4ths, they have the ability to move up into the 2nd round if needed.

1. Browns - Myles Garrett
2. 49ers - Soloman Thomas
3. Bears - Jamal Adams
4. Jaguars - Malik Hooker
5. Titans - Marshon Lattimore
6. Jets - OJ Howard
7. Chargers - Jonathan Allen
8. Panthers - Leonard Fournette
9. Bengals - Reuben Foster
10. Bills - Mike Williams
11. Titans - Corey Davis
12. Browns - Mitch Trubisky
13. Cardinals - Patrick Mahomes
14. Eagles - Derek Barnett
15. Colts - Forrest Lamp
16. Ravens - Charles Harris
17. Redskins - Christian McCaffrey
18. Patriots - ???

There is no-one offering a trade for this pick so you don't have that option. Please select your top three votes for this pick.

My vote:

1. Haason Reddick
2. Gareon Conley
3. David Njoku

1. Haason Reddick
2. Taco Charlton
3. Gareon Conley

I would not be shocked to see five qb's go in the first round. ( Watson, trubinsky, Kizer, mahonnes, and Webb.)

However our goal needs to be to come out of this draft with butler and jimmy still on the team.

I don't think that this is the thread to agree or disagree with that statement; this little game is more of a thought-exercise to see what the team might do (or what we, as the unofficial self-appointed proxy of the team might do) if the trade scenario arises, regardless of the desirability of that outcome.

I think it's my fault for taking this thread in to the weeds.

Sorry @manxman2601 , keep updating it and I will keep to the game!

For 18?

1. Conley
2. Humphrey
3. Njoku

Gareon Conley is the winner.

With the 18th Pick, the New England Patriots select Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State

30. Steelers - John Ross
31. Falcons - Taco Charlton
32. Patriots - ????

Over to you for your three votes. Two important things to note.

1. There is no-one wishing to trade up into this slot so 'trade' is not an option.
2. Remember that this is an either/or thought experiment. Either we get pick 11 for Butler or we get pick 32. So when picking here, we have not taken Conley in this scenario. However, imagine that he has already gone for the purposes of this experiment. So...you can choose another cornerback because we didn't have the earlier pick to take one, but you cannot choose Conley. Hope that's not too complicated.

One final note. There are rumours doing the rounds that the Patriots, using the picks they gained when trading back from 11 may try to trade up in to the latter half of the second round. Just so you're aware in case you're considering a reach.

My three votes are:

1. Tyus Bowser
2. Budda Baker
3. Tarrell Basham

Ooof. Those Falcons taking Taco. He seems the closest thing to Chandler Jones in this draft, if I'm trying to project a Patriots-type move. Uh, let's see.

For 32:

  1. Jordan Willis
  2. Tyus Bowser
  3. Trade Down (Josh Jones?)

I'd be happy with either of the first two players. I'd probably prefer a trade down about 5 - 10 slots into the 2nd in order to pick up another 3rd rounder.

Although I really like Conley, I have to think that we'd get more out of this draft by taking a premium pass rusher (Willis/Taco) and linebacker (Bowser) at 18 & 32, and then packaging one of the picks to jump up and grab Moreau if he falls because of the pro day injury. He's bigger, faster, more explosive, and more physical than Conley, although I don't think he's as fluid or natural of a cover corner. Before the Combine I thought he'd be a mid-late 2nd rounder; then he got 1st round hype after his workout; then after the injury, Daniel Jeremiah thinks he goes in the 3rd. Who knows??

Basham and Josh Jones are on my radar for the next picks, depending on the direction we go here. Then I'm probably going to look for Langi/Kittle/McDermott -- okay, I'm getting ahead of myself.

1) Bowser, Edge, Hou
2) Williams, S, Utah
3) Brantley, DL, Fla

This is a tough one.

Willis
Baker
Wilson

I don't love any of those picks, but each offer different levels of protection/versatility.

Our free agent signings have minimized the value of a lot of guys in this range.
