Blount 2016 Playoffs:

35 carries, 109 yds. 3.1 ypc. 1 TD (v. Pittsburgh)

Sorry, the Patriots can draft a guy or sign a UDFA who can do that. No sense paying Blount 2, 3 million dollars to do the same thing.

As of right now this thread is another Butler discussion thread. Carry on.

Butler is not married and therefore not perfect
You may be on to something. I know I was perfect until I got married and my wife began discovering NO END of imperfections. Why only today she discovered that I "never listen when she tells me how her day went."

I told you guys.......he's off sparking up somewhere until tax day.......then he goes on his cranberry juice cleanse and will be in camp by OTAs

he likes it this way cuz nobody makes him pee in a cup

I was perfect till I got married..........now I don't get anything right

but she completes me

Yeah Butler was definitely tied in to it, but more how we as fans look at players and what they deserve to be payed. My primary reason I don't think Blount will be back is because the Patriots will not pay him more than Burkhead and I don't think he will come back for less (of course I have no idea).

Lots of folks saying how much Butler deserves to be compensated because of his low salary, but you don't hear it about Blount. He was HUGE for us last year especially in the beginning of the year.

If I was gm I would bump his salary with escalators that were likely to be met, touch downs, yards, games, but which I would think there would be savings. I would bump his signing bonus by 700,000 from last year as a thank you for his service and then I would offer a salary of 1,000,000 for next year. Pretty chump next to what Butler was getting.

Before this season I would not have said this, but I now think of Blount as one of the 7 best backs the Patriots have had if you count Super Bowls.

Again it is kind of funny money to me what fans think players are worth. Blount has been a great Patriot who has played his entire career for NFL peanuts.

You're not very old, are you?

Did not go back through all the years, but yeah guessing when you add overall career with Patriots, and super bowl seasons. Yeah.

I thought he was sensational last year, but there was a noticeable wearing down at the end and in the playoffs.

I think Rex is going to be our new LG based on his contract. Not as big but can do it all. He bumps out Bolden on ST

I want him back for sentimental reasons, would be cool to see a guy who unlikely ended up on our team become part of the 3x ring club.

That said, I'm having disturbing flashbacks of BB/Josh refusing to stop giving him the ball in the SB for 2.5 quarters....

Rather get someone with a higher ceiling, we all know what Blount is at this point in his career and what his playoff performances are going to be like.

Just curious...how many more SB's is Brady gonna have to win for you to finally change your sig pic?

I looked and it appears Blount is the New England Patriots second leading playoff rusher for yards behind Corey Dillon and the #1 in playoff rushing touchdowns.

So back to the unfounded claim, yeah I think he is easily 1 of our top 7 running backs. I have ignored receiving yards for simplicity sake, keeping it just to rushing statistics.

Love LG and hope we keep him for another year at least. Has been a great locker room guy for us, but maybe not the hardest worker? Not sure, it would just be great if he could bust his ass this offseason, come back in the best shape of his career, and totally justify keeping him, even just to be a rotational guy.

He came back in tremendous shape and had a great season. I think those doubts are unwarranted.

Is it hard to heal from a hairline fracture in your ankle or whatever it was?

I don't understand what the OP is saying.

3.9 ypc (below league average), coming off his only ever 300 carry season, and will be 31 next year.

Yeah, I can get that guy in the draft in the late-rounds, keep him under cost control for 4 years.

James Conner - Pitt - 5th round, for example. I don't need the 31 year old running on bald tires.
I do like Connor though!

An aside, but got to feel bad for Stevan Ridley. For every Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles tyoe amazing bounce-back from ACL surgery, sometimes the player just can't do it. He is a poster child for "Make as much while you can". I really hope he gets fully healthy, regains some of his abilities, and can catch on with a team somewhere.

LG punishes LB's and the impact is a slow death when the defense eventually gives up. STB - sign the beast!

Blount played better this year than before, and I didn't realize during the year why--free agent year. BB won't break the bank for him, and he shouldn't. Yes, he is good, but very inconsistent. Great to have him on our team this year! Would like to have him back. Pretty much offer him the same contract, with a little bit more incentive money thrown in.

Basically I put my faith in BB. Whatever he does for the Pats, I trust is the best thing to do for the Pats.

First I heard of the injury. May be common knowledge and I am just hearing it

Not sure I have been as clear as I would like. Blount had a fantastic year last year and I think I have shown he has been one of the top RB in Patriot team history. I think because the RB position is so devalued that maybe we as fans have devalued his contribution. Seems the team is moving away from him, can't see him signing for less than Burkhead and I don't see the Patriots offering more. In 7 seasons of football he has earned less than 7 million dollars. LeGarrette Blount I don't hear the board saying he has been grossly underpaid like Butler and I don't hear folks calling for his signing. MAN DESERVES RESPECT
