Rapoport: Hightower expected to sign deal with NE, NYJ, or PITT TODAY

They were probably taking a hard liner approach to coerce him to stay. They seem to want him so I highly doubt they would truly pull the deal off the table of Hightower ended up choosing them.
That's a really good point. Thanks, Kontra.

I can overlook those after the plays he made in the last two Super Bowls....
But going forward I hope he can stay above the 75% mark if we going to be paying him top dollars. I'm sure his new contract and bonuses might revolve around how much he is on the field.

With that said I hope he returns to NE, I'd be sick to my stomach if he were to join the Jets, I'd never forgive him!
Many of those missed snaps are the team keeping out for precautionary reasons. He has never had a chronic debilitating injury.

chill guys, he's coming back

and overall its been what, a week since FA began? calm down yall

I'm obviously hoping he comes back here but at this point in your career you're a two time Super Bowl champion LB. Do you want to retire in 6-8 years wishing you had just taken more money? If it's my greedy ass I take the money and sign with NY.

Hall of fame potential to thanks for playing if signs with Jets

If Ty Law stayed and won one or two more bowls hes at least a second ballot possibly first ballot hall of famer

If he does come back to NE, we should be grateful, since I am positive that NYJ made a bigger offer to try to steal him. It's not quite a "take a lot less to win" situation like Brady, but it's still volunteering to take less pay. I hope he does. Would be great to have him be the next great Pats LB for life in the vein of Bruschi & Mayo.

I thought that the jets were supposed to be in rebuild mode. They just cut half their starters and are trying to climb out of salary cap hell.

They have holes up and down their roster, they pretty much need to fill every position on the team. Even their most optimistic fan isn't expecting them to compete for the next 2 or 3 years.

So why would they offer Hightower $13M....which is probably 30% more than the next highest offer?

This idea of his guys missing time at that position as somehow being a big black mark is weird to me. This guy plays hurt. Knees, shoulder, doesn't matter. It is one of the most grueling positions on the field. The best guys get hurt. Kuechly, Lee with the Cowboys, Willis, Bowman, etc. It comes with the position.

He DOES play hurt but missing time IS a black mark, since you can't help the team from the tub, and especially if you have a large salary.

We are watching the career of the most physically dominant TE of all time in Gronk, but what is the biggest criticism of him?

I think he goes to NY, if the $13mil is a real offer, if the Pats keep their offer at $10m/yr.

significantly more money? i agree.

1 mil difference(based on hypothetical contracts floating about)? it doesnt make sense to me to move. uprooting your family for a 10% raise. then you factor in losing the playoff bonuses, in addition to the perks of being on a winning team you know.

More importantly. He's out there when it counts, injured or not, making plays.
