If he leaves for more $$..can you blame him? He won 2 rings and last big pay day.

That being said..i don't see him leaving. The longer this drags..the better for us

You really have to give the Jets props on this one. They are currently finishing up a batch of green cupcakes with the white number 6 on them for their next useless QB arrival from Chicago. In a genius salary cap management move the team has decided they will turn the stale cupcakes upside down when notorious playoff choker Tony Romo visits next Wednesday.

Word has it Woody has promoted the baker that came up with this brilliant idea. He is now the assistant coach. More to come........

The Steelers did beat us back in 2011

That was one win in the last 6 games

They need to make sure the cupcakes are facing the right way, otherwise Cutler will see number 9, and leave all pissed off and disrespected.

And here the Rats were thinking they could save money by using the same cupcakes for Romo.

I gotta give Rats fans due credit. I was looking at one of the rodent messageboards and even they were laughing at their management giving HT the cup cake treatment.

Or hes holding a grudge

Really doubt that. He's just being an astute businessman just like McCourty was; gauging the market for his true value and using it as a bargaining tool if needed.

On the other end, there's Butler's rookie agent, making all the wrong moves.

My understanding is that the Pats said to HT to go and see whats out there on the market and give us an opportunity to match it.

HT is disappointed in his current market. I think he thought that teams would be offering him $13m+ a year and blowing him away with all the money in free agency and it hasn't materialised. He is frustrated that he's going to go back to the Pats and have to sign for less than what Collins got (who in his view they jettisoned in favour of him).

So he is desperately hawking himself about to see if anyone will offer Collins money. If the Jets had offered that he would already be back in NE with the offer on the table. The fact he is now in Pittsburgh says he still can't get a reasonable offer. And, by the way, if Pittsburgh were willing to offer $12.5m a year they would have done it day 1 of free agency. If HT was a priority for them they wouldn't wait until day 5. So I don't see them going much past what NE is offering, unless they are suddenly desperate.

If HT doesn't sign back with NE it won't be about money.

This really looks like HT stalling for time.

Oh he definitely is, hoping some team offers more than the Pats so he can bring that back to them instead of coming back to them having to accept the deal he basically scoffed at.

But he can't stall forever.

I think Hightower is just enjoying the process and taking the time to make the most important decision of his life. He knows there are multiple suitors, he now probably knows that his market value isn't as high as he initially thought it was and he also knows the Patriots are willing to at least evaluate if they want to match the offers he has/will receive.

With all that information, he would be a fool not to explore the market to its fullest. He is the top LB on the market and he seems to be controlling the market. He owes it to himself to take the time to make a sound decision. I don't think this whole thing means that he wants or doesn't want to move, all it says is that he is willing to explorer his option and that he will use the leverage he has to get the most money he can from whatever suitor. Could be us and he seems to have agreed to come back to BB with any offer he might get, might be someone else.

I want Hightower back as I view him as a very valuable member of the defensive and as a key team leader. However, I understand this is a business and that he might move on. If he does, we will have to do our best to replace him. We have BB and BB has proven in the past that he usually takes the right personnel decision. We have to trust him.

Why do people keep implying that after you win championships they mean less to you?

There is no reason at all for him to hurry.
There is probably still more cap room available that there has been at the start of free agency in other years. The idea of get the contract before someone else does is not applicable.
